Job Description:

To serve the Church by developing and enhancing the Contemporary Worship Service and other arts-related programs through dynamic musical and worship elements.



  • Coordinate all parts of the worship service with the Senior Pastor
  • Construct and prepare all aspects of the weekly contemporary worship services
  • Develop and coordinate special worship services/church plays for seasonal events (Christmas, Easter, etc.)
  • Utilize and implement contemporary worship styles and formats within LCMS Liturgy
  • Attend staff meetings and Church-based retreats
  • As practical participate in the St. Paul Choirs
  • Demonstrate flexibility related to styles, innovations and methods
  • Represent the church by actively serving in the local community (e.g., Boca Raton community concerts and events)



  • Recruit, direct and lead the contemporary worship musical groups (praise team vocal and instrumentals and other music initiatives) for services
  • Research and select for approval the appropriate music for contemporary worship services
  • Prepare these groups by rehearsing, setting expectations for services and initiatives
  • Lead congregational singing. Proficient vocally and on one or more instruments typically

used in a Praise Team

  • Build and maintain a contemporary music library by using computer software to develop and design worship services (e.g., Planning Center Database/CCLI Software)


Drama and Worship Arts

  • Recruit, develop and direct drama teams for participation in worship
  • Lead the Contemporary Worship Arts-related multimedia program, sound techs, and computer techs
  • Perform other Church-related activities from time to time as requested by the Sr. Pastor



  • Implement a Contemporary Music Group(s) comprised of elementary, middle school and high school students
  • Coordinate with Sanctuary Minister of Music and St. Paul Lutheran School’s Music Director to facilitate joint participation in worship (utilize students in worship)
  • Be a presence in the St. Paul Lutheran School by engaging students in contemporary worship through chapel services and worship services

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; must exhibit Christian attitude and interact with staff, leadership, volunteers, and members
  • Growing relationship with Jesus Christ based on a commitment to prayer and God’s word
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Commitment to promoting outreach through music ministry
  • Budget planning and preparation experience preferred
  • Average forty (40) hours per week combined on site/off site
  • Subject to peer review 90 days after starting date
  • Competencies:
  • Proficient vocally
  • Proficient on one or more instruments typically used in a Praise Team
  • Familiar with technology utilized to enhance music and worship Education/Experience
  • Reads music and has some formal music training
  • Has familiarity with traditional LCMS worship and contemporary Christian music
