The Director of Student Ministries at Atonement Lutheran Church will be responsible for leading the ministry for grades 6-12 students. This individual must demonstrate a passion for reaching the next generation and leading students toward and authentic relationship with Jesus. A Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or master’s degree in a field related to the position, alongside a minimum of 3-5 years experience leading an effective and transformational youth ministry is imperative for this position.


The ideal candidate for the position of Director of Student Ministries will possess the following skills and competencies so as to effectively execute the objectives of the role:


  • A fully devoted Christ follower and fully support the ministry of Atonement Lutheran Church.
  • Ability to preach, teach, and communicate in a way that connects with today’s youth culture.
  • A history of volunteer recruitment, development, and training.
  • Proven experience creating, leading, developing, and planning intentional faith growth opportunities and experiences (i.e. trips, retreats, missions).
  • Solidified experience mentoring and challenging youth in (1) faith exploration, (2) discernment of gifts, and (3) ability to share and defend the faith.
  • Significant theological and biblical knowledge to develop curriculum and teaching materials in accordance with Atonement’s teachings.
  • Exhibit an ability to earn respect of and maintain confidentiality with youth and families.
  • Possess effective interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
