We are a local body of believers standing with the best of the ancient Christian tradition committed to renewing the City of Corpus Christi socially, spiritually, and culturally.

Within the context of the aforementioned mission, City Church constantly strives to foster a community of authenticity, honesty, and unconditional love where everyone has the freedom to fail, struggle, and rejoice that Christ indeed died for big sinners. City Church is the only non-denominational winsomely reformed congregation in both its city and throughout the Coastal Bend. Over the past eight years the church has carved out a niche as a classically orthodox congregation with a progressive approach towards mercy ministry.

The position of Family Pastor will oversee multiple ministry areas, with primary responsibility for oversight and strategic development of the K-12 programs for City Church. This position will provide critical leadership and discipleship to all families whose children participate in any and all City Church Children Ministry programs.

The successful candidate for this position will be highly relational, with complementary skills in strategic development. They will possess a pioneering spirit with a strong desire to nurture, expand, and maximize the potential of family life at City Church. The ideal prospect will possess a foundational understanding of systems development and relational management in both congregational and staffing spheres of the church. They will complement the culture of the church, while embracing the community and its surrounding regions.

The candidate will need to demonstrate a clear understanding and embrace City Church’s theological vision, core values, and have a grace-centered love for the city of Corpus Christi. They must be a dependable team player and a self-starter with the ability to take initiative while working with accountable independence. In addition to possessing the capability of casting and executing vision for staff and congregation in a season of significant transition, strong problem solving, counseling, and pastoral skills are required. Experience in, and the ability to, manage, develop, and work with a diverse team of staff and volunteers will be imperative to this position.

A minimum of five to seven years of full-time ministry in a larger context, complemented with a bachelor’s degree and theological learning from an accredited seminary or equivalent is required for this role.

Corpus Christi, Texas is a thriving port town about 160 miles north of the Mexican border. With a metropolitan population of over 500,000, the city grows considerably with the "Winter Texans" who stay in the area during the winter months enjoying the mild climate of Corpus Christi. It is the second most popular vacation spot in the state of Texas, and home to one of the largest ports in the nation. The series of long barrier islands, particularly Padre and Mustang Islands, provide excellent beach, boating, fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities for tourists and residents alike. The city is also a center for the petroleum and petrochemical industry, and a major shipping gateway on the Intracoastal Waterway. There is a military presence with two naval air stations in the vicinity, and a Texas A&M campus in town. Corpus Christi is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of a variety of jobs. Its family life resembles most towns in a metro area of the U.S., and the community boasts excellent schools and abundant outdoor activities. With its proximity to the coast, area residents enjoy all the benefits of city living along with easy access to water activities in a naturally beautiful environment.
