The story of Community Church stands as a powerful illustration of God’s faithfulness, provision, and grace. Since its inception in 1937 as an affiliate of the Assemblies of God denomination, Community Church has stood as a beacon of hope, serving those in the area and its surrounding vicinity through dynamic services and outreach efforts across multiple campuses.


Its strong legacy of influence was at its best in the late 1990’s when the church experienced much growth and progress in terms of facility expansion and programming development. It has not only maintained, but also successfully increased its potential to expand, under a solid heritage of senior leadership. The Senior Pastor will be a person called of God, who is set apart to the Gospel ministry. They will be evangelical in theology, and committed to living and serving in a manner consistent with the standards set forth in Scripture for such a leader. This position will be largely responsible for leading the church in accordance with biblical principles, while serving as the primary communicator, visionary, and provider of overall spiritual leadership to the church. They will specifically serve as an inspiring, authentically biblical, and compassion-centered relational leader for the church and its community. 


The successful candidate for this role will: (1) be an individual who exemplifies a godly character, and demonstrates compassion in recognizing and meeting the needs of others, and (2) possess an exceedingly strong aptitude for leadership with a high level of competence. They will embody traits of a biblical Elder/Overseer, Evangelist, Shepherd, Preacher/Teacher, and Equipper. A formal course of study consisting of a seminary degree, bachelor’s degree in biblical study, or an equivalent is required for this position. Additionally, the candidate will be ordained (by a recognized denomination), with a minimum of five years in senior level ministry, with a full range of experience in multiple areas of ministry in various roles that reveal increasing levels of personal growth and job responsibilities.


Located in the southeast corner of Texas on the border of Louisiana, Orange is home to a variety of world-class cultural experiences. From award-winning theatre shows to community festivals, and historical homes to premier museums, Orange has something for everyone. The city is one of the most promising industrial areas on the fast-growing Gulf Coast, with the industrial sector including petrochemical products, steel fabrication, shipbuilding, rubber products, paper products, and plastics. Schools in the area are served through three independent school districts, with approximately 3,000 students enrolled in K-12 institutions. Higher-level learning includes Lamar State College, which serves more than 2,000 students. The population distribution of the Orange is 62% White, 31% Black, 1% Asian and 1% Native American or Native Hawaiian, while 5% of residents are of Hispanic or Latino origin. The median income is $41,494 and the median home value is $95,000, which is lower than the state average. Orange offers its citizens an array of employment, recreation and shopping opportunities.
