This is a full-time salaried position, a minimum of 40 hours per week, with the salary and benefits set by the Board of Elders in conjunction with the Compensation Review Team.



Working Relationships: 

  • The Salem Central Campus Pastor (CCP) is called to his position by the Elders of Salem or a process established by them and is accountable to the Senior Pastor.

  • The CCP is responsible to supervise all campus-specific staff—pastoral or administrative—and any other staff that may be assigned to the CCP by the Sr. Pastor.

  • The CCP is to maintain a collaborative and collegial working relationship with the Pastoral Ministry Staff.


All-Church Responsibilities: 

  1. Serve as a pastor to the multi-site Church

  2. Demonstrate ownership for and effectiveness in communicating and fulfilling the church’s vision, mission, strategic initiatives, culture, statement of faith and doctrinal distinctives so that disciples are being made and God is glorified.

  3. Serve as a member of the pastoral staff providing spiritual guidance to the congregation by participating in weddings, funerals, hospital visitation, teaching, and preaching as directed by the Senior Pastor.

  4. Lead the congregation through modeling by participation in Sunday worship, intentional efforts to Reach with the Gospel in our Metro, intentional efforts to grow in discipleship and to cultivate a lifestyle of service.

  5. Keep the congregation informed about Salem Central ministries through the bulletin, the Salem Weekly, webpage updates and any other agreed upon means.

  6. Collaborate with the Salem Staff

  7. Participate in staff gatherings and supervisory meetings.


i.   The weekly pastoral staff meeting                                                                                                          

ii.  The Salem Executive Staff Meeting (Sr. Pastor, Campus Pastors, Operations Manager).  

iii. All other staff meetings as called by the Sr. Pastor.                                                                                               

iv. Supervisory meetings with Sr. Pastor.                                                                                                  

v.  Supervisory meetings with your Direct Reports as assigned by the Sr. Pastor.  


  1. Coordinate all Salem Central activities with the Ministry Staff and Church Calendar.

  2. Oversee assigned ministry areas and/or ministry directors or coordinators that serve both campuses and set goals that are integrated with and advance the cause of the overall church. World missions is a strong Salem value.  In alignment with that value, the CCP will provide oversight and work with Salem’s Missions Team.  This will require 20% of the CCP’s time.

  3. Monitor and give account for all Salem Central adult ministries, including budget line items, attendance, initiatives, and goals.



Salem Central Responsibilities: 

  1. Serve as the leader responsible for overseeing the disciple-making ministries of Salem Central.

  2. Work with the Campus Elders and Deacons/Deaconesses, to oversee the disciple-making group life, called Life Groups, of Salem Central as a primary responsibility, and also oversee all other Salem Central ministries.

  3. Co-lead a Life Group that meets outside the walls of the facility.

  4. Provide the point leadership and oversight for the ministries and programs of Salem Central in accordance with the overall mission, vision, values, strategic initiatives and core doctrinal beliefs of Salem.

  5. Lead the Central Campus Leadership Team meetings.

  6. Provide a pastoral presence for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening activities.

  7. Work with the leadership of any teams under your oversight providing accountability to minister within the approved budget.

  8. Ensure compliance with Salem’s constitution, by-laws, policies and procedures.

  9. Pursue Continuing Ed in regard to evolving job responsibilities and leadership.

  10. Serve as the leader responsible for providing pastoral care for Salem Central.

  11. Working with the Central Campus Elders and Lead Deacon/Deaconess, work to ensure that immediate pastoral care is provided for group participants in Life Groups.

  12. Serve as the “Pastor” for Salem Central so that each congregant looks to you as their “pastor.”  This would include oversight of child dedications, baptisms, pre-marital counseling (as much as possible work in group settings for these first three), weddings, funerals, hospital visitations and other pastoral counseling for Salem Central.

  13. Preach 1-4 times per year at Salem Central, addressing campus-specific needs, issues and/or opportunities.

  14. Oversee the intercessory prayer for worship services at Salem Central.

  15. When possible, give announcements on Sunday mornings at Central.

  16. Ensure the safety and security of Salem Central by making sure all Salem Central doors are locked at an appropriate time after the service and all lights have been shut off after Sunday morning services.

  17. Encourage and thank people serving in volunteer positions on Sunday mornings.




Serve as the leader for the assimilation ministry of Salem Central:

  1. Oversee the Assimilation Process for Salem Central.

  2. Oversee the “Welcome Team” for Salem Central, including ushers, greeters, coffee servers, and connection center workers.  Develop team leaders for each ministry that see themselves working together as a team to make guests on Sunday morning feel welcome and loved.

  3. Oversee the care for the appearance of the facility, creating a welcoming environment.



  1. A born-again Christian as evidenced through conversion testimony and lifestyle.

  2. A passion for seeing people become disciples who can make disciples in missional communities.

  3. A passion for seeing the local church engaged in advancing the worldwide, cross-cultural mission of God in the world.

  4. In agreement with the EFCA doctrinal statement as well as Salem’s Mission, Vision and Values.

  5. Live a Biblical lifestyle as expected of members and defined in the Salem Bylaws.

  6. Prefer Bible College or Seminary degree or higher and 5+ years of pastoral experience.
