This person is responsible for the discipleship of young adults, primarily in their post-high-school but not yet 30-years-old phase of life. The aim is to create a catalytic movement among young leaders who desire to see every[one] transformed and mobilized
by Jesus. This Director works with existing groups that have a similar passions to encourage the lordship of Jesus Christ in the lives of these world-changers. With an eye toward leadership development, this Director will be a catalyst for generating a pipeline
of individuals that will populate the churches both inside and outside the movement of Kensington around the world as well as share Christ with their circle of influence. They will utilize current groups and events to create a new movement…
Character: Demonstrate the qualities of a follower of Jesus Christ, with a passion to love God, live in community with those in the body of Christ and extend the love of God to those seeking Him. Show a strong commitment to living out
the values of Kensington.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Masters degree preferred
- Experience: Five years plus in a local church, non-profit or other setting that shows demonstrated ability to disciple young adults. Experience Speaking to groups of 250+.
- Affirmation of Kensington’s mission, values and beliefs.
Responsibilities (priority order):
Attractional Gathering & Connection: In social settings, events, and gatherings, this person will create atmospheres where this age group wants to connect, engage and invite others. As time, resources and gifted leaders emerge these
events can grow in their size, scope and reach. The desire is move from periodic events to a more consistent gathering place of over 1000 young adults where 50% are connected to our groups strategy.
Discipleship: The chief aim of this work is create a movement of young adults that produces disciples who produce disciples within the framework of Kensington Church.
Leadership Development: The principle strategy is to reproduce other leaders – this job will entail formal and informal leadership development to fulfill the needs of the age group as well as the pipeline for Kensington’s broader vision
– new movements, churches and impact here and around the world.
Strategic Linkage with Existing Ministries: Connecting with other branches of Kensington that are developing emerging leaders is a must. This currently includes the Internship Program, Campus Small Group Leadership and the discipleship
group movement at Kensington. There may be other connections with outside groups; area schools & universities, YWAM, New Life, Spring Hill and others that tend to cultivate young adults in Christian leadership.
Partnership with Like-Minded Leaders: A number of leaders at Kensington represent existing ministry to 20-somethings in small groups homes, and organic discipleship relationships. Identifying and partnering with those “doing the work of
ministry” already is encouraged to create buy in, movement and unity.
