Purpose of Position (Strategic Objective)
The purpose of this position is to provide primary leadership to those who manage the human and physical resources of ACF.  This includes day-to-day supervision over ACF’s operations: its financial, legal, IT, facilities, production, communications and human resource functions.  The person would also make recommendations to the Executive Pastor regarding organizational structure and alignment, and setting operational policies and plans. 

General Summary
The Director of Operations would work with the Executive Pastor to ensure the Senior Pastor’s vision for excellent operational support is translated into workable systems that produce desired results.  He/she would provide primary leadership over CoRE operations.

Critical Functions and Responsibilities
1.     Supervision of the Operations Staff. This Director of Operations would serve as the direct report for those who manage the human and physical resources of ACF.  Those staff members are currently the Accounting & HR Manager, MarCom Manager, Production and Facilities Manager.  Responsibilities would include:
  • Working with each direct report to develop strategic operational systems that reflects ACF’s overall missions, vision and values.
  • Ensuring that each direct report has a current, written, agreed-upon performance plan.
  • Meeting with each direct report on a regular basis to lead, train, and inspire healthy spiritual growth and effective ministry.
  • Performing periodic written and oral evaluations of each direct report.
  • Making sure that each direct report manages their budgets well.
         
2.     Supervision of the Operations Functions. This Director of Operations would be responsible for most of ACF’s operational functions: including communications, financial, legal, IT, facilities and human resources.  He/she must implement systems and volunteer teams that support ACF’s ministries.    Responsibilities would include:
  • Interfacing with the Executive Pastor to understand the operational needs of ACF.
  • Developing and managing efficient operational systems and policies.
  • Serving as primary liaison with vendors that intersect ACF’s operations.
  • Finances:  Oversee budgeting and accounting functions.  Ensure the proper management of financial files.  Manage the General & Administrative budget.
  • Legal:  Oversee outside counsel.  Ensure the proper management of legal files.
  • IT:  Oversee ACF’s technology infrastructure: servers, computers, printers, phones, web access, etc. Ensure the proper management of IT files.
  • Facilities:  Oversee the upkeep and management of current facilities and campus.  Manage vendors related to construction: architects, engineers, contractors, etc.  Ensure the proper management of facility files.
  • Production: Oversee the producing, capturing, editing and distribution of the weekend sermon video (aka our ‘product’)
  • Human Resources: Oversee all HR functions and new hire orientation.  Work with managers to assure proper recruiting, hiring and disciplinary actions.  Ensure the proper management of personnel files.  Maintain and amend employee handbook.
  • Communications: Coordinate with the Executive Pastor and Oversee ACF’s marketing and communications efforts across all communities.
3.     Communicate with the Executive Pastor. The Director of Operations would be responsible for making recommendations operational issues.  Communications would include:
  • Budgets:  Ensuring that ACF has a workable budget and executes to that budget.
  • Policies:  Ensuring that ACF has workable policies and executes to those policies.
 
Additional Functions and Responsibilities
1.     Contributes to ACF publications as needed.
2.     Performs special projects as requested by the Executive Pastor.

 

Requirements/Preferences

Preferred Spiritual Gifts: Leadership, Craftsmanship, Administration or Wisdom

Scope of responsibility:  The Director of Operations would serve as the leader for all ACF operations functions.

Minimum skills and knowledge required:

  1. Must have a good biblical knowledge.
  2. Must have the moral and spiritual qualifications as described in 1 Timothy 3.
  3. Must have a strong desire to serve other team members and help them to succeed.
  4. Must have good communication skills.
  5. Must be organized and detail-oriented.
  6. Must be a team player – inclusive vs. exclusive.
  7. Must have good knowledge of church management theory and practice.
  8. Must have some church operations experience.
  9. Must have extensive experience establishing, communicating and executing effective systems and processes. 
  10. Must have proficient Microsoft Office skills; database knowledge preferred.

Skills and knowledge preferred:

  1. Has excellent proficiency in understanding and applying biblical truth, principals and concepts.

Minimum previous experience required:
2 Years Ministry or 5 years Marketplace

Working knowledge of accounting and finance systems preferred.

Previous experience preferred:
5 years ministry or 10 years marketplace

Extensive knowledge of accounting and finance systems preferred.

Minimum education required: Bachelors

Education preferred: MBA or equivalent

Minimum communication skills required:

  1. Must have proficient interpersonal skills – able to communicate persuasively and compassionately both orally and in writing.

  1. Must have excellent interpersonal skills – able to communicate persuasively and compassionately both orally and in writing.

Other requirements: Able to keep flexible hours.  Some light lifting.
