Job Description:

Grace Fellowship is a spirit-filled, Charismatic, Christian church of 750+ worshipers near Athens, Georgia (home of the University of Georgia). We are a growing, multi-cultural congregation of diverse ages with worshipers coming from a multi-county area. We are seeking a dynamic Worship and Arts Pastor with a servant’s heart.  We are looking for a person who is competent in music and leadership, and has the creativity and vision to take our worship and arts ministry to greater levels of excellence.   It is our desire that the person filling this position will effectively engage the congregation through praise and worship using the most appropriate methods available including the ever-expanding media/technological pathways.


The ideal candidate must be an organized self-starter and team player with the capability to develop teams and equip leaders.


The person filling this position reports directly to the Senior Pastor, and is expected to be a major contributor to the pastoral team in the furtherance of the mission, goals, and directions of the church.


Desired Education/training and Experience

  • A four year degree in Music/Religious education
  • A strong knowledge of God’s Word
  • At least five years proven experience in leading and inspiring growing worship and arts programs


Desired Competence

  • Strong vocal skills
  • Ability to play at least one instrument such as keyboard or guitar with a high degree of skill
  • A reasonable degree of knowledge and skill with respect to the use of technology, sound, and lighting in the production of effective presentations
  • Ability to read music, understand musical arrangements, theory, and composition
  • Ability to be a vocal coach
  • Proven ability to recruit and build teams
  • Ability to cast a vision, plan, develop, and implement strategies for the worship and arts ministry that will implement the vision
  • Ability to teach God’s word and music in a way that is creative and relevant
  • Understands current worship trends
  • Highly developed organizational and administrative skills
  • Adept in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication

Job Description-The Worship and Arts Pastor Will:

  • Provide overall leadership in all areas of worship and music
  • Participate in the life of the church, including membership, corporate worship, and major church activities
  • Meet weekly with church staff as a team player in serving the church body
  • Develop a long-term Christ-centered, church-wide worship ministry including, but not limited to adult, student, and children’s ministry
  • Plan, develop and lead weekly praise and worship experiences that engage a multi-generational and multi-racial community of faith
  • Plan, develop, coordinate and produce programs for special seasons and events (music, dramatic presentations, special services, etc.) 
  • Develop Leadership Teams: Vocal, Band, and Technology
  • Work in tandem with the Choir Director
  • Establish goals for excellence in the worship ministry, create & maintain worship teams, and lead people in worship and praise of God.
  • Serve as the worship ministry advocate within the church and the community
  • Develop and implement a vision for the Worship and Arts Ministry that supports the overall church vision and mission of “going and making lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ”
  • Research, develop, plan, implement, evaluate and continually improve a balanced variety of ministry-focused programs, activities, and events that attract both members and attenders of the church as well as outsiders seeking to learn about the Christian faith
  • Build relationships to inspire, recruit, equip and empower adult and student volunteers
  • Accept occasional pastoral duties assigned by the Senior Pastor as need arises
  • Perform administrative functions related to the worship and arts ministry, including development and oversight of the ministry’s budget
