Job Description:

Primary purpose of the position: To shepherd adolescents (grades seven through twelve) of families associated with CFC towards spiritual maturity and discipleship.


Primary Responsibilities


  1. Create and direct suitable venues for the spiritual development of adolescents in accord with the mission and vision of the church.

  2. Recruit and train qualified volunteers to assist with the implementation of the ministry.

  3. Communicate regularly with staff supervisor and church leadership as to progress, challenges and needs of the ministry.

  4. Interface regularly with parents to communicate ministry objectives, provide appropriate counsel, and coordinate strategies for the spiritual development of their children.




The ideal candidate is a married man between the ages of 25 and 35 with several years of youth ministry experience. In addition, he has a record of relational effectiveness with both genders, organizational competence, and a passion for reaching and discipling youth.


  1. Spiritual qualifications:


  • Exemplifies the qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1–7).

  • Maintains a consistent and meaningful devotional life, both personally and with his family.

  • Is able to skillfully communicate and appropriately employ the Word of God.

  • Models a passion for the lost.


2. Personal qualifications:


  • Exemplifies personal integrity in all areas of life, including maintaining healthy boundaries with the opposite sex and employing effective means of personal accountability.

  • Is reasonably disciplined and organized in life.

  • Relates easily and effectively to persons of all ages but especially to teens.

  • Exhibits appropriate humility, being aware of both strengths and weaknesses and is continually working on their improvement.

  • Is able to listen well and offer wise counsel for the situation.

  • Possesses an enthusiastic and cheerful disposition.


  1. Ministry qualifications:


  • Possesses a proven track record of success in youth ministry (three years or more).

  • Is willing to innovate and make changes when the situation warrants.

  • Is a self-starter but also appropriately seeks input for major decisions.

  • Is able to work well in a team environment.

  • Is called long-term to youth ministry.

  • Is committed to the mission, vision and values of the church.

  • Is doctrinally in agreement with the church.


Educational Requirements


  • Possesses at least a four year degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, preferably with an emphasis in youth or Christian educational ministry. 


  • Demonstrates a theological astuteness firmly grounded in Scripture that is able to readily respond to the theological, cultural and social issues facing teens today.


  • Exhibits a love of learning by regularly seeking opportunities (books, articles, podcasts, seminars, conferences, etc.) to improve his understanding of Scripture as well as maintain best practices for youth ministry.
