    Job Description

    Director of Rolling Hills Learning Center

     

    General Function:  To work under the direct supervision of the Rolling Hills Learning Center Board and the Rolling Hills Community Church Preschool Minister, serving as the administrative and instructional leader of the Rolling Hills Learning Center.

     

    Primary Function:  The RHLC Director’s role is to build and maintain a preschool program that develops the whole child, sparks imagination, builds self-esteem, fosters learning through play, develops an attitude of service, and helps children to discover new things each day.  This role is carried out in light of the mission statement of Rolling Hills Community Church:

    “Rolling Hills Community Church exists to bring glory to God by reaching people for Christ and nurturing them in the faith through inspired worship, genuine community and passionate ministry that transforms lives in our neighborhoods and throughout the world.”

     

    Specific Job Description:

    Administration

    • Act as a liaison between the RHCC staff, the RHLC Board, the RHLC staff, and preschool families
    • Establish policies on admission, attendance, and fees, in cooperation with the RHLC Board
    • Prepare monthly reports on the status of the program to present to the RHLC Board at monthly meetings
    • Communicate with parents via email, phone, formal and informal meetings, and newsletters
    • Solicit information periodically from families to determine satisfaction and improve the program
    • Prepare and maintain the Preschool Handbook containing RHLC policies and procedures
    • Supervise student registration and enrollment
    • Participate in professional development workshops, classes, and organizations
    • Maintain a variety of records, including registrations, medical records, accident reports, etc.
    • Follow the rules and regulations outlined in the RHLC Constitution and By-laws
    • Serve on the RHLC Board - attend monthly meetings, report budgeting and hiring, and seek input on major policies of the RHLC
    • Perform any additional duties as required by the RHLC Board or the RHCC Preschool Minister

     

    Operation

    • Assume responsibility for the daily operation of the RHLC program
    • Manage program attendance for staff and students
    • Facilitate preparation for and implementation of special events, including Open House, Christmas Program, and End-of-Year Celebration
    • Plan school year calendar for students
    • Develop work calendar and schedule for RHLC staff
    • Perform a variety of miscellaneous duties as required of the position, running errands, ordering supplies, conducting activities, and helping with set-up and clean-up for events
    • Facilitate semi-annual programs

     

    Supervision and Personnel

    • Recruit staff to teach at the preschool program, and select and hire said staff in cooperation with the RHLC Board
    • Prepare letters of intent and staff contracts for hiring
    • Supervise and formally evaluate all preschool staff
    • Plan and provide staff development opportunities and training
    • Conduct monthly staff meetings
    • Encourage and provide opportunities for team building and staff collaboration
    • Outline expectations for and monitor communications from teachers to parents
    • Interview and select substitute teachers
    • Maintain staff records

     

    Curriculum and Instruction

    • Collaborate with teachers to plan instructional activities and lessons, which promote developmentally appropriate student learning
    • Supervise implementation of preschool curriculum
    • Formally evaluate the curriculum used by staff on an annual basis
    • Procure and organize instructional equipment and supplies
    • Facilitate RHLC participation in community outreach

     

    Facilities and Safety

    • Monitor the safety of students, staff, and facilities
    • Regularly inspect equipment and play areas to ensure safety and cleanliness
    • Procure and use all required safety equipment and train staff on its use
    • Review safety issues at each staff meeting
    • Ensure that all staff is CPR and First Aid certified

     

    Financial

    • Develop and maintain an annual budget in cooperation with the RHLC Board
    • Manage financial accounts
    • Plan and implement fundraisers as warranted to support budget responsibilities and student

    enrichment with the cooperation and support of the RHLC Board

    • Present financial statements on a monthly basis to the RHLC Board at monthly meetings
    • Provide classroom teachers with monthly supply budget and reconcile those accounts
    • Manage staff payroll in cooperation with the RHCC Accountant
    • Collect student tuition payments

     

    Marketing and Development

    • Promote the positive image of the preschool
    • Provide a vision for program development and change
    • Remain current on issues and trends in early childhood education and use them to improve instructional strategies at RHLC
    • Implement strategies to recruit and maintain enrollment
    • Work with the RHLC Board, RHCC Preschool Minister, and RHCC Communications Director to market and advertise the preschool
    • Maintain RHLC webpage and Facebook presence
    • Act as a liaison with community preschool programs by attending meetings and conferences as deemed appropriate

  • The RHLC Director is expected to raise godly young men and women through their leadership of the RHLC.

  • The RHLC Director is expected to grow personally in their own leadership and teaching abilities by reading, attending conferences and having godly and professional mentors in ation with the RHLC Board

  1. The RHLC Director is expected to raise godly young men and women through their leadership of the RHLC.
  2. The RHLC Director is expected to grow personally in their own leadership and teaching abilities by reading, attending conferences and having godly and professional mentors in their life.
  3. The RHLC Director, and his or her family, is expected to be involved in the overall life of the church body by actively participating in a community group and all other church-wide events and functions.
  4. The RHLC Director is expected to be an excited and contributing member of the RHCC staff team.

 

Responsibility:

  1. Work with the RHLC Board of Directors, the RHCC Preschool Minister, and the RHLC staff to develop a comprehensive education plan for the RHLC that nurtures the spiritual, academic, artistic, social, and emotional growth and development of each student.
  2. Performance review in December and May with the RHCC Preschool Minister and Lead Pastor or Business Operations based on work as related to this job description.  Salary review will be given with the RHLC Board annually.

 

      Qualifications:

  1. Education – Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, elementary education, or child development; advanced education, while not necessary, is preferred.
  2. Experience – Minimum of three years working with children in preschool or other venues.  Management experience is preferred.
  3. Spiritual – Must be a professing Christian with a true calling and passion for ministry and a partner of Rolling Hills Community Church.

 

Compensation: This is a salaried position, requiring 28 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience.
