Job Description:


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Children’s Ministry or a related field is required;
  • Work experience in a church-based children’s ministry utilizing volunteers is required;


Faith and Life:

  • Must be called by God to minister to children and preschoolers;
  • Must have a growing personal relationship with Jesus;
  • Must be in agreement with the Purpose Statement, Core Values, statements of faith, Constitution, By-Laws and general vision of LifeSong Church;
  • Must be willing to become a member of LifeSong Church;
  • Must pass the church’s criminal background check process to the satisfaction of the Senior Pastor;


Ministry Skills:

  • Servant attitude towards God, leaders, other team members, the church, and guests;
  • Self-motivated with a team approach including the ability to motivate volunteers;
  • Competent in leadership abilities to include organization, delegation, administration and interpersonal relationships;
  • Proven ability to work well with parents, volunteers, church staff and children;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong decision making skills;
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to handle stress well.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and coordinate volunteers;
  • Able to use Microsoft Office suite as well as open to new technologies;


  Duties and Responsibilities


The Children’s Ministry Director with input from Pastoral staff will oversee the ministries developed for the children of LifeSong Church and its community including Sunday mornings and evenings, Wednesday nights, summer programming, monthly special events, etc.  This will include all children birth through grade 6. 


The position will include the following duties:


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive program of Christian development and education for children beginning at birth and continuing through grade 6;
  • Recommend policies and procedures for the children’s ministry to the Senior Pastor and/or Leadership Team;
  • Work with ministry leadership to pray for, recruit and train leaders and volunteers for ministry positions in the children’s ministries;
  • Along with Pastors, provide leadership and shepherding for children’s ministry leaders and volunteers;
  • Create a safe, positive, nurturing and age-appropriate learning environment for every child;
  • In coordination with the administrative staff, help facilitate the safety process (applications, background checks, etc.) for the recruitment of leaders and volunteers;
  • Partner with parents in the ongoing task of raising children to know and serve the Lord;
  • Evaluate age appropriate program materials, equipment, supplies, and space for children’s ministry and oversee distribution of such materials to workers;
  • Lead in the evaluation of the children’s ministry on an annual basis with all children’s ministry leaders and senior church staff;
  • Communicate openly and honestly with the Senior Pastor and Leadership Team about needs, problems, and ideas for improvement;
  • Work with Senior Pastor and Leadership Team to develop an annual budget and manage funds for the fiscal year;
  • Be punctual and attend all required events and activities;
  • Maintain relevant sections of the church website and/or Facebook page;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor;
