First United Methodist Church is seeking a part/full time Children's and Youth Ministries Corrdinators.  These persons would be the coordinator of Children's Sunday School, Nursery workers, Children's Church on Sunday mornings and Youth program for 3rd - 12th grade.  A full job description for each position can be obtained and is attached.. JOB EXPECTATIONS

The Children and Youth Ministries Coordinator at First United Methodist Church, while answerable to the Pastor and Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, works in conjunction with the Pastor. The objective of the Children and Youth Ministries Coordinator is to coordinate, develop, administrate and provide a safe, enriching, and learning environment for children, of both the congregation and community, who are participating in the Children and Youth Ministries programs. This spiritual growth reflects the vision and mission of First United Methodist.

A bachelor’s degree in Education and/or experience in Children and Youth Ministry, are a necessary requirement for this position. Successful applicants must become Safe Sanctuary Certified and have a passion for sharing Jesus with children and youth.  Also, the Children and Youth Ministries Coordinator should be an active member of his or her current church and become a member of FUMC. This individual is expected to possess a proven track record with reliable references.

This position requires the ability to develop a curriculum as well as write and evaluate lesson plans and supervise other teachers and volunteers. This position requires good organization and marketing skills along with some accounting skills. Good record keeping is necessary in dealing with student tuition, keeping receipts, letter writing, and the use of e-mail.

In order for parents to feel comfortable in entrusting the care and learning of their child or youth to this facility, the Children’s and Youth Ministries Coordinator must be mature and have a confident demeanor. The Children’s and Youth Ministries Coordinator must also be mindful of the fact that the quality of the care and environment provided may be a determining factor in whether or not a family attends church at First United Methodist Church.

The Children’s and Youth Ministries Coordinator must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work affably with the pastor, staff, other teachers, volunteers, and congregation. This individual is expected to present a neat and professional appearance, which reflects positively on the standards of First United Methodist Church.

DUTIES/TASKS

GENERAL

  • Develop, implement and oversee all Kingdom Kids Children’s Ministry Programs-newborn through fourth grade.
  • Responsible for hiring and supervising nursery attendants for church, small groups and Bible study functions
  • Provide childcare for all church sponsored events as needed
  • Develop and coordinate youth ministry for 3rd through 12th grade.

 

SUNDAY MORNING PROGRAMMING:

GOD’S LITTLE VILLIAGE NURSERY, KINGDOM KID’S PRESCHOOL & KINGDOM KID’S ROTATION SUNDAY SCHOOL (K-4TH GRADE), MIDDLE SCHOOL (5th -8th GRADE), GOD’S CREW (SPECIAL NEEDS).

  • Write curriculum, with the help of a volunteer, for Rotational Sunday School K-4th grade
  • Write weekly lessons for Preschool Sunday School 3-5 years of age
  • Provide curriculum for Middle school and God’s Crew classes
  • Recruit volunteer teachers and shepherds for Sunday School
  • Ensure teachers and nursery attendants are in place each Sunday and for all church sponsored events. 
  • Lead Gathering Time each Sunday to develop relationships with the children
  • Gather teaching supplies, prepare rooms and see that rooms are cleaned up after Sunday School (preschool through 8th grade) with the help of volunteers
  •  Make contact with new families with young children to inform them of FUMC programs available

KINGDOM KID’S CHURCH – Preschool and elementary

  • Attend worship services and assist in the services as instructed by the senior Pastor
  • Prepare weekly lessons for Kid’s Church for 9:00 am and 11:00 am services
  • Gather and clean up supplies needed for Kid’s Church
  • Lead Kid’s Church lessons with help of teen volunteers

GOD’S KIDS

  • Plan and prepare weekly lessons for God’s Kids K-4th grades
  • Lead God’s Kids with the help of 3-4 volunteers
  • Inform families of God’s Kids children of upcoming church activities

YOUTH 3RD THORUGH 12TH GRADES

  • Develop program
  • Select and order materials for program
  • Recruit and supervise volunteer teachers, crew leaders, and other helpers
  • Promote Youth program through mailings, advertising, announcements, etc.
  • Oversee each youth event such as Wednesday night, mission trips, Trash n’ Treasure fundraiser, and other outings as needed.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

  • Select and order materials for VBS
  • Recruit and supervise volunteer teachers, crew leaders, and other helpers
  • Organize materials and supplies for stations with help of volunteers
  • Promote VBS through mailings, advertising, announcements, etc.
  • Oversee set-up and take down of VBS with help of volunteers

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  • Organize an annual family friendly activities for FUMC members
  • Organize community outreach events such as Trunk or Treat, Back-to-school or Christmas event

PERFORMANCES

  • Recruit a Kid’s Choir director and hold 2-3 special music children events per year with help of volunteers
  • Recruit volunteers to help with a Christmas program

MISCELLANOUS

  • Throughout the year, supervise hourly helpers and volunteers
  • Provide information for newsletter and bulletin
  • Maintain computer database with contact information
  • Prepare Children and Youth Ministries annual budget
  • Assist anyone who comes into our office with questions regarding children and youth ministry
  • Adhere to and follow the requirements of the FUMC Employee Handbook, promoting a Christian atmosphere
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor

WORK SCHEDULE/COMPENSATION

Work schedule is based on forty hours per week including Sunday. Hours are flexible per Pastor’s discretion.

Compensation for services for calendar year_2016_shall be paid as follows:

Wages are payable bi-weekly on Thursday

Any additional time off must be requested through the Senior Pastor and compensation will be agreed upon per each request.
