The Technical Director is responsible for all aspects of the Audio/Visual and Broadcast components of the Cypress Campus which opened in November of 2013 and has average Sunday morning worship attendance of 850+. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Sunday services, Wednesday services, rehearsals, as well as other various services and events. This position provides direction and vision to a team of staff and volunteers, challenging them to achieve a high level of excellence in audio, video, media, lighting, broadcast, web platforms, and set design.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- In charge of supervising and scheduling the staffing of technicians for all events using a combination of internal staff, volunteers, and external contractors (when needed).
- Proactively partners and communicates closely with worship team and event planners to ensure that all audio/visual/broadcast components are implemented in such a way as to provide a solution that meets the demands, not only of individuals involved, but also the goal(s) of the particular event.
- Ability to lead and develop a team made up of staff, volunteers, and contractors to ensure consistent quality and execution of services and events.
- Responsible for setting the spiritual tone for the Technical Arts Ministry. The volunteers for this ministry must understand their importance in helping to shape an atmosphere that engages people in worship.
- Prepared to be a contingency technician on an exception basis which may include assisting with room configuration, setup and tear down of audio/visual/broadcast equipment in addition to physical configuration (lifting involved) and connecting and interfacing all audio/visual/broadcast equipment.
- Partner with business office and IT support provider to maintain, purchase, and coordinate installation of technical related equipment as needed.
- Supervise volunteers and contractors in their work assignments and performance development.
- Responsible for development of the annual Tech Arts budget; reviews monthly financial metrics with leadership as required to ensure budget/spending targets are met or exceeded as directed by leadership.
- Builds strong relationships with campus staff and volunteers.
- Models and encourages personal spiritual development of volunteer team.
Education & Experience
- Must be a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ and a member of The MET (or willing to transfer membership to The MET).
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- 2-5 years of related experience within Audio/Visual industry and/or church live event production
- Minimum 2 years experience leading a team
- Extensive knowledge of operating audio visual equipment which includes, but is not limited to, audio, lighting, staging, data, video, broadcast, etc.
- Familiar with Audio, Video and Lighting best practices and industry standards
- Proficient in use of complex computer operations (audio/video/broadcasting hardware)
- Strong self-awareness and teachable spirit.
- Maturity: The ability to separate emotional feelings from the real issues at hand.
- Responsibility: The ability to independently make and meet commitments made to yourself and others, keeping the promises you make, and acknowledging and accepting the choices you have made, the actions you have taken, and the results they have led to. This person will be responsible for the spiritual atmosphere and development within his ministry.

Responsible for communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who participate in ministry activities.

- Organized: Methodical and efficient in structuring tasks to be accomplished and following up to ensure completion.

Shares key information with others involved in a project or effort. Follows the biblical model for resolving conflict in accordance with Matthew 18.
