South Campus Student Ministries Intern – Job Description




The Student Ministries Intern will be responsible for building and overseeing student ministries, including Edge, Junior High and High School (grades 5-12), at the South Campus of Central Peninsula Church. This will include, but is not limited to, the training of adult leaders, implementation of weekly programs, events, camps, retreats, small groups and vision as it aligns with the overall church and Foster City Campus Student Ministry Team. This position is full time and would require approximately 50 hours per week.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Preparation, planning and coordinating

  • Weekly Edge, Junior High and High School meetings

  • Teaching prep depending on program

  • Small Group Ministry including curriculum prep

  • Recruiting, developing, and connecting with small group leaders

  • Effective partnering and communication with parents of students


Recruiting, connecting, and building community with adult leaders

  • Recruiting adult leaders to work with students

  • Attendance and participation at the Student Ministry staff trainings 2-3 times a year


Presence in student communities

  • Connecting with students outside church activities and programs. This would include calling students, connecting with families, and attending outside activities with students such as sports, school and community events.


Staff meetings and coordination of ministry

  • Meeting with Campus Pastor

  • Coordination of larger campus ministry needs

  • Informing Campus Pastor of ongoing progress of ministry

  • Campus staff meetings


Events and logistics

  • Ministry specific publications

  • Attending events with students as able


Be available for students and families as needs arise

  • Counseling students

  • Assisting and connecting with families


Schedule to be flexed as needed to accommodate

  • Special events and trips, service projects, day-long trips, weekend excursions, and week-long camps and retreats.

  • Oversee additional ministry where gifts, interests, and church needs coincide, as determined with the Campus Pastor (examples: worship, creative programming, special events, etc.).

  • Be available to do other tasks that Campus Pastor and/or Student Ministries Pastor deem necessary.
