St. John's Church
Job Description:

St. John’s (stjohnselkhorn.com), a dynamic and growing church in Southeastern Wisconsin, is seeking an energetic and organized full time Children and Family Ministry Director/Pastor to serve our growing church and community.

Our vision is to continue to grow as a vibrant, multigenerational family of faith, drawing from the richness of our “deep roots” and the relevance of a modern church. Everything we do reflects this vision, blending relevant aspects of our heritage into a fresh and modern atmosphere.

This will be the second full time position on our staff, called to work with the pastor and strong volunteer teams to expand our growing ministry with and for children and families.

The ideal candidate will be gifted and excited to work with all ages, as this position will be a blend between children/youth and family (multigenerational) ministry.

Some of the initial goals in the position will include:

  • Work with our existing team of excellent volunteers to provide an excellent and ongoing ministry to children (4-K through 6th grade) and families every Sunday morning. We recently transitioned to the Orange Children’s ministry curriculum (whatisorange.com).
  • Work with the pastor and leadership to reach out to families and children in the community and organize outreach events.
  • Serve as part of the greater staff and leadership team, working to incorporate all ages in as many aspects of the church as possible.

The successful candidate will have strong relational skills, administration and coordination, a passion for equipping others, a calling to disciple children and families in a multigenerational church, and an excitement about being part of a larger team working together toward common goals.

Formal education and/or experience leading children and family ministry is desired. Being a church that is “Christian first, Lutheran second”, interested candidates do not need to be from a Lutheran background, but should be open to serving within our unique Lutheran church.

St. John’s is a member of the newer, evangelical and mission-focused denomination Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (lcmc.net), and is a charter member of a grassroots movement of churches in Walworth County across denominational lines called Refresh (refreshchurches.com).

We are located in the middle of beautiful Walworth County, commonly referred to as the “lakes area” of southeastern Wisconsin. Approximately one hour from Chicago, Milwaukee, and Madison, this area is a popular vacation getaway for city dwellers, but also a great place to raise a family with friendly residential neighborhoods and top-rated schools.
