In the summer of 2000, a core group of 69 people began meeting and soon thereafter the group constituted as a church and called Ken Nienke as their pastor in January of 2001. In its beginning years, Fellowship Community Church met on Apperson Dr. and Riverland Dr. in Salem, moving to their present location of 15 acres on Red Lane Ext. in January of 2005. 


Today, Fellowship Community Church is a 1,400-attendee multisite entity that is affiliated with the Willow Creek Association and Saddleback Church, which solely exists to help people Worship God, Walk with a group, and to Witness globally.


In essence, the Worship Pastor will engage the congregation in worship. In addition to this primary responsibility, they will bear responsibility for training and shepherding worship ministry participants and overseeing the overall worship service, including music, drama, video, programming and technical production. The Worship Pastor will also collaborate with, and help guide all campus worship leaders to ensure consistent quality and theology across all locations.


The ideal candidate for this position will be a masterful vocalist with musical competency and leadership capability. This individual will show proficiency in music theory, and be well-versed in instruction and coaching others to exceed levels of excellence. They will additionally possess a relational nature and a strong level of spiritual maturity, in order to fulfill the obligations of the position. 


An undergraduate degree in a related field with comparable theological training is required for this position. In addition to this educational prerequisite, the successful candidate will bear the following core experiences and skills needed for the role:


  • Minimum experience of 5 years in a church with 500+ in attendance.
  • Demonstrated musical skill and theological discernment. 
  • Strong leadership in leading church, vocal teams and bands.
  • Possess pastoral influence, verbal communication skills, and cultural awareness.
  • Proven success at multi-tasking, time management, organization and prioritizing.
  • Proven ability to work with and maintain positive, loyal relationships with those inside and outside the church.
  • Multisite experience is highly preferable.
