ROUND ROCK, TEXAS

 

Attendance:  600-700 weekly

Annual Budget:  $2.2 mil

 

The Call
The First Baptist Church of Round Rock, Texas is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor to work with its Senior Pastor and other members of the ministerial staff in furthering God’s kingdom in the community and throughout the world.  Round Rock, a suburb of Austin, Texas, is one of the fastest growing communities in our country. It is a great place for a family to grow and thrive because Round Rock enjoys high quality schools, a low crime rate, and a very reasonable cost of living. The church is located in the heart of downtown Round Rock amidst numerous commercial establishments and residential subdivisions providing unique opportunities to reach diverse people groups in growing numbers.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Attend team meetings as needed and report activity needs to the Senior Pastor
  • Oversee and supervise the ministerial staff and conduct annual staff evaluations
  • Prepare and teach the Bible Study part of Wednesday prayer meeting as needed
  • Assist the deacons in planning and training
  • Assist with general pastoral care and hospital visitation
  • Further develop Welcome Team efforts (parking lot greeters, greeters at doors, welcome centers, building signage, guest cards, guest follow-up, guest luncheons, etc.)
  • Develop Guest Strategies and First Impressions efforts
  • Oversee website enhancements
  • Initiate new Round Rock resident strategies
  • Implement Member Assimilation (new member class, connections to ministries)
  • Oversee annual Ministry Fair
  • Enhance the church’s online social media presence
  • Oversee the Prayer Ministry
  • Relate to international ministries within the church
  • Develop and implement Invitation Counseling Training
  • Coordinate and assist Missions Team to organize international and local missions efforts (organize multiple international trips, organize a World Mission Sunday)
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor

  • Positive ability to teach the Bible
  • Ability to share the gospel effectively with others
  • Identify and engage in cooperative ministry activities with all staff
  • Strong verbal, writing, listening and people skills
  • Strong leadership with a positive, encouraging ability to delegate
  • Fulfill responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the New Testament doctrine as understood by First Baptist Church of Round Rock
  • Ability to develop and implement plans
  • Maintain current knowledge of church trends, training and curriculum
  • Ability to maintain enthusiasm for current spiritual focus
  • Work cooperatively with all assigned teams, ministry assistants, church staff, volunteers, church membership and community leaders as appropriate


Qualifications:

  • Call to the Gospel Ministry
  • Bachelor Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Three or more years as a pastor, including pastoral care, teaching, life-events ministry, and grief ministry
  • Demonstrate qualities of a Christ-like character, as listed in Galatians 5:22-23
