Working collaboratively with our church leadership, the missions committee, and spiritual and missions leaders across the city and globe, helping us to envision the next opportunities for serving our city, and our world, where Riverbenders can use their
human resources, intellectual resources, and financial resources to serve the needs of others, and have a spiritual voice across the city.
Develop training methods to help people best serve others in cross-culture environments, employing best practices so that we are equipped and prepared to allow God to work through us to make a difference in people’s lives.
Volunteer Leadership & Team Development:
Continue to develop individuals and lay leadership teams that will oversee, develop, implement, and invite others to participate in serving others throughout the city and the world who are faced with different life struggles, and/or who are located in various
different geographical areas.
Develop volunteer teams for each area of the Mission’s ministry. Work closely with the lay leaders to recruit, train, schedule, encourage, and shepherd their volunteers. Make sure that there is a focus on spiritual development of these leaders as well,
helping them to spiritually develop other volunteers.
Developing and Overseeing all Missions Programs:
Together with the missions committee, help provide oversight and ensure that all three elements of our strategy are being implemented through the variety of programs we’ve established at Riverbend. These three elements include:
- Exposure – Help our congregation becoming “others focused” through exposing them to service opportunities.
- Involvement – Help people to use their skills and gifts to serve those in need, interacting with them in person.
- Relationship – Help people to serve others on an ongoing basis, investing in them, developing relationships, discerning needs, and as their passions ignite finding new ways to serve the people.
Mission’s Visibility and Communication:
Increase the visibility of Riverbend’s missions programs and their results to the congregation and to the city at large, through personal connections on and off campus, promotional/communications channels, and networking.
Missions Prayer Support and Fund Raising:
Develop funding for missions directly for specific projects, programs and people. Connect to people’s passions through their direct involvement in order to create sustainable prayer and financial support communities for the various mission’s initiatives.
Pray for, shepherd, care, teach, lead, and mentor various members of our congregation. Occasionally perform weddings, baptisms, or funerals. Be available to people in need as situations arise, to listen, pray, make hospital visits, home or office visits.
