a. Character/Doctrine: The pastor shall be a man who exhibits the characteristics in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and Article IV, Section 2 of the church constitution. The pastor shall agree with the doctrinal statement of the church and abide by its constitution and by-laws. Every pastor is part of the Pastoral Team and shall support the church’s mission to promote the supremacy of Christ.
b. Education: A 4-year undergraduate ministry degree is required. Seminary level degree is desirable.
c. Experience: The pastor should be passionate and gifted in discipling teens and young adults individually and in large groups for their personal and spiritual development. One's call to ministry and administrative experience paid and/or volunteer will be considered. Must have a proven ability to work with adult and student volunteers.
2. Principal function: Oversee the church’s discipleship ministries from birth to 25 years old, with a focus on youth in grades 6-12 and young adults.
a. Responsible to Elder Board through the Lead Pastor, including an annual performance review with him.
b. Member of and report monthly to the Elder Board.
c. Provide an annual report to the congregation.
d. Full-time salaried with no less than 40 hours/week and take at least one full day off per week.
4. Ministry responsibilities listed in order of priority:
(Understanding some work may be delegated to others, the ultimate accountability for assuring that the following responsibilities are implemented rests with the Pastor of Youth and Young Adults.)
a. Youth and Young Adult Ministry (75% or 30+ hours/week)
i. Work with volunteers in counseling individual youth and young adults, leading weekly ministry programming, and long-range planning and accomplishment of activities.
ii. Recruit, train and supervise adult and student volunteers. Strictly adhere to Child Protection system guidelines, staying current with background checks for all volunteers.
iii. Find and develop resources for use in youth and young adult ministry.
iv. Provide opportunities for youth and young adults to serve in the church, community, and world.
v. Oversee fundraisers, balancing of student accounts, and monthly spending reports. Stay within budget and follow all financial procedures and reimbursement/check request timelines. Evaluate and prepare an annual youth and young adult budget.
vi. Participate in EFC District and National Conferences.
vii. Hold regular parent meetings. Provide parents opportunities to learn communication skills and how to disciple their children. Be an ally of parents as they raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
b. Christian Education (15% or 6+ hours/week)
i. Provide support and encouragement to the CE leadership and Sunday School teachers.
ii. Participate in all CE meetings and decisions. Help improve resources and training.
iii. Be available to encourage, oversee, and collaborate with the Children’s Ministries Director who has the primary responsibility for ministry to children birth to 5th grade.
iv. Plan and evaluate the youth curriculum and class selections for youth and young adults. Recruit teachers and do some teaching as time permits.
c. Additional responsibilities (10% or 4+ hours/week)
i. Participate in or plan the worship services as requested. Preach occasionally.
ii. Perform other pastoral responsibilities as requested by the Lead Pastor.
iii. Participate in the weekly staff meeting and other boards and committees as needed.
iv. Adhere to all personnel policies and guidelines of the church.
5. Salary and Benefits
i. Total compensation and benefits package = $50,805 – $53,661 annually.
ii. Benefits included in above package are retirement, Individual Health Insurance, and Short-term Disability Insurance. Paid vacation and holidays as well as emergency and sick-leave benefits.
