Founded in the early 1930's, First Assembly of God is a multi-generational, multi-cultural church that is dedicated to helping people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Led by Pastor Ron Hawkins, First Assembly of God is focused on ensuring that evangelism and discipleship go hand in hand, and that the authentic love of Christ is made available to all. First Assembly of God's sprawling campus can be seen right off of Interstate 69, and houses a café and bookstore, gymnasium, and one of the best childcare and kindergarten schools in the city. 


The Teaching/Discipleship Pastor role of First Assembly of God is primarily focused on providing inspiring, authentic biblical messages for both Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, as well as various ministry programs and events. Reporting directly to the Senior Pastor, Ron Hawkins, the successful candidate will teach a minimum of 10-15 times a year on the weekends, and will provide leadership oversight in ministry areas directly involving men, and discipleship. 


This position will work under the direction of the Lead Pastor to facilitate the vision of the church, develop new programs in keeping with established goals, and maximize the effectiveness of present programs. To serve the church by developing, coordinating, and administering a comprehensive adult educational program for the church and providing leadership to and supervision of volunteers involved in this ministry. 


A Bachelor's degree is required for this position. A Master's degree from an accredited Assemblies of God Bible college or seminary (or a willingness to pursue one) is preferred. The successful candidate must be one who has demonstrated several years of professional development and oversight in full-time ministry. They will have a proven track record of working in a ministry setting that is both multi-cultural and multi-generational. The candidate will have had experience working as an effective weekend communicator and leader of a large ministry team, with the responsibility of providing vision and mobilizing both volunteers and leaders in a large church. The successful Teaching/Discipleship Pastor candidate will have some level of experience working with men, as well as young families, and has also provided extensive leadership in areas of discipleship and outreach.
