Bethel Church exists to “Make Disciples by building a community of whole people who, through devotion to Jesus Christ, are learning to live every day by the word of God.”

The next Senior Pastor will be a strong visionary who will take Bethel Church to the next level of making disciples who love God wholeheartedly, build relationships with other Christians, obediently follow Jesus, and influence their world. This individual will be an excellent team leader and a team member who is marked by innovation and creativity that’s necessary to effectively cast vision and develop the staff of Bethel. The successful candidate will be an exceedingly strong expository preacher, a gifted speaker, and an engaging presenter, who is authentic and relatable to diverse generations. People will walk away both challenged intellectually and motivated toward personal change.

The effective Senior Pastor at Bethel Church will lead the congregation toward the purpose of making disciples. He will do this while focused on the GROW values, and continue to build upon the strong small group foundation.

With the elders, the Senior Pastor will cast vision and lead the church into the next season of effective community impact and congregational growth. Each campus in the Bethel network will grow in breadth (numbers) and depth (spiritual growth), and will become more effective than ever at making disciples in our communities, including the next generation and young families.

A seminary degree is preferred, although there is more interest in a solid Bible education and less interest in where this training came from. The ideal candidate’s scope of experience and skills will include, but are not limited to:

  • Minimum of five years experience leading multiple staff in a multi-site church environment.
  • Highly relational, motivating, and engaging in disposition, and both verbal and written communication.
  • A history of strong expository preaching.
  • Ability to relate to, teach, and motivate leaders and disciple makers.
  • Proven history of expository preaching that is relevant, authentic, and inspiring.

The Tri-Cities, in eastern Washington is a metropolitan region where 300 sun filled days offer both residents and visitors the ideal lifestyle or vacation. Dubbed a “big city with a small town feel,” and a combined population of approximately 300,000 people between Richland, Pasco, and Kennewick, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Tri-Cities was the nation’s fastest-growing metro area from 2010-2011. The region ranked among the Top 10 Places in the Nation to Raise a Family (Kiplinger, 2010) while being tabbed by CNN/Money as one of the Top 10 Likeliest Places to Make Gains in Housing Values, and Forbes Magazine identifying it as the 11th Geekiest Community in America due to the number of academic degrees concentrated in one small spot. Tri-Cities is a place where one can stroll along the Columbia River, enjoy an outdoor concert, or find an imaginative playground for young and old alike. The city is rich in culture, and plays a major role as a commercial, research, and administrative center for the vast Hanford Site, a U.S. Department of Energy nuclear waste and research facility. Home to over 51,000 residents, Richland has strong health care facilities and the strongest base of high-paying jobs between the three cities. It was ranked #1 Most Secure Places to Live among Mid-Size Cities, and #4 Most Secure Places to Live in the U.S. bySperling’s Best Places in 2011.
