POSITION:  Student Pastor


REPORTS TO:  Team Pastor




The Student Pastor’s primary role is to take Five Stones Church’s mission, vision, and values and provide the necessary leadership and resources to the Student Team including staff, servant leaders and students.




Oversees the coordination and implementation of all Student Ministry, including Middle School, High School Students (grades 6-12), and College Students / Young Adults, in alignment with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Five Stones Church.  The Student Pastor is responsible for setting the vision and primary direction of the student ministry. The Student Pastor is also responsible for seeing that servant leaders are recruited, trained and empowered to implement the ministry.




Personal:  A growing and vibrant relationship with Christ. A healthy marriage and family (if married). Partner of Five Stones Church.


Knowledge:  A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree from an approved Seminary is preferred. Educational background in Youth Ministry or Christian Education is desired.


Skills: Able to understand and see that the student ministry mission and vision are implemented by an adequately trained and equipped Team of Servant Leaders. Able to work well and empower a leadership team. A desire to relate to and care for students. Ability to be an effective communicator of Scripture. Must have a solid understanding of curriculum design and the ability to customize material to be age appropriate, biblically sound, relevant and creative.  Must have efficient time management and organizational skills to implement ministry and be able to delegate appropriate administrative tasks to Student Team including staff and/or servant leaders in order to dedicate necessary time for the ministry responsibilities. Lead at a high capacity in order to grow with the church.


Specific responsibility: Develop relationships with students; oversee and participate in recruitment and training the Student Team to love and lead students; create age appropriate ministry environments; partner with parents to leverage their influence in the life of their student(s); supervise Student Team; create avenues for students to hear the gospel, develop healthy relationships and grow as Christ Followers (discipleship); to coordinate ministry with the total ministry of Five Stones; oversee provision for the pastoral needs of students and families; to be a wise counselor and decision-maker; to set goals and assess needs within the ministry; to establish and maintain the Student Ministry budgets; to be creative in programming; develop relationships in the community with schools and organizations in order to connect with student culture.


Experience:  A minimum of two years similar leadership responsibility in a para-church ministry or church.  Must have hands-on experience working with students, missions and various ministry programs through teaching, leadership and implementing ministry opportunities.  


Physical Demands/Work Environment: Vision, hearing, adequate speech are essential. A valid driver’s license is required to drive personal vehicle when necessary. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.


Mental Requirements: Must possess a positive attitude. Attention to detail, mental concentration and ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks. Must have ability to train, delegate and empower ministry staff and a team of servant leaders.



Is responsible for the overall Student ministries under the oversight of the Team Pastor. Has the authority to establish procedures, curriculum choices, space needs, spend budgeted funds and make all decisions necessary to carry out the programs of the Student ministries consistent with the operational by-laws and stated goals.
