Crossroads Church, Thornton Campus is currently looking for a new team member for the crucial role of campus pastor. Crossroads is a dynamic, outwardly focused church, meeting at three campus locations with the vision of serving people toward and anchoring people to Jesus.


The Thornton Campus was opened in March 2007. It began with a core of 100 worshippers and grew over the last decade to over 800 in attendance spread over 3 weekend services (Saturday night, and two Sunday Morning).  Crossroads Thornton is now located on 17 acres on the corner of Interstate 25 and 128th Ave. The location is visible to nearly 100,000 cars passing on I-25 per day. Once fully developed, the site will represent the vision of Crossroads in a vibrant, effective way.? Crossroads is passionate about turning unchurched, consumer-minded suburbanites into active believers in Jesus and participants in God’s Kingdom work. It’s a body of believers with a community-wide reputation of being a church that serves through collaboration with other churches, non-profits and government entities.


This position will require a person who is a high level leader, has a pastor’s heart, is a team builder, and an effective communicator. The right candidate must be able to competently lead a campus of 800-1000, be able to have an intelligent conversation with a mature follower of Jesus as well as well as a non-believer. This individual should have demonstrable experience in casting and fulfilling ministry vision along with implementing strategies that create community.


The role of campus pastor is primarily a three-fold function. (1) Leader. They lead their campus staff, volunteers and worship services. (2) Overseer. They oversee their campus operations, outreach, ministry and strategies. (3) Relationship Builder. They are the shepherd of their campus. They invest time, counsel, service and prayer into the lives of the people at their campus.

Purpose Statement:

To serve people toward and anchor people to Jesus by providing leadership to staff assigned to a specific campus and coordinating the implementation of the various ministries, along with providing pastoral care to the congregation of the specific campus.





  • Manage campus staff (10 PT/FT staff)
  • Cast and implement church vision with campus staff
  • Cast vision for campus volunteers and families
  • Lead monthly campus staff meetings
  • Meet regularly with individual staff working through ministry strategies and problems
  • Work alongside Campus Worship Director to coordinate weekly worship service elements and flow
  • Work alongside Campus Connections Director to coordinate and implement Rooted discipleship strategy
  • Be available for a variety of ministry opportunities in and out of Crossroads Church



  • Develop a strategic ministry plan for Thornton Campus that is anchored in a deep desire to see new believers get connected to Crossroads and take next steps on their spiritual journey
  • Provide oversight to all campus ministries
  • Develop and give oversight to annual budget for the campus
  • Update Lead Pastor on “stories and statistics” that show effectiveness of outreach and discipleship
  • Keep facilities fresh and up-to-date


Relationship Builder:

  • Be available for pastoral counseling and guidance using the “Strategic Pastoral Counseling: A Short Term Model” approach
  • Be available to meet the prayer needs of individuals
  • Be available for hospital and care-center visits as needed
  • Prayerfully refer people to professional help as needed, while maintaining a pastoral relationship
  • Be available for weddings and funerals as needed
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Pastoral Care ministry for your campus

Job Specifics and Benefits:

  • Full time. Reports to Senior Pastor
  • Attend all staff meetings and a monthly one-on-one with Lead Pastor
  • Salary in the mid 5 figures depending on experience
  • Single person benefits (medical, dental, and MMBB retirement package: 16%)

  • Minimum 5 years of pastoral experience
  • Education: M/Div desirable or equivalent theological training and ministry experience
  • Proven track record of leadership, pastoral care, team building, engaging culture
  • Strong people-skills. Ability to interact with diverse people groups?(diversity in belief, age, income, ethnic background etc.)
  • Effective communicator in verbal, written and digital contexts
  • Ability to think through critical issues and develop a plan of action


ABOUT THORNTON: Thornton is a modern growing city on the front range of the Rocky Mountains with a current population of about 110,000 people with a projected growth over the next decade of 30,000-40,000 people. It is half way between Denver and Boulder. It has a high percentage of young families who work in the “tech sector” and less than 10% of the population attend a local church.
