Job Description:

The Director of Children and Family Ministries has the responsibility for nurturing children in their life and faith, connecting with their families, and developing ministry areas to meet the needs of these families. 


Primary Responsibilities:

1.  Creation of ministries for children (birth thru 6th grade) and families including the training necessary for equipping those ministries to happen. These ministries are not just about activities, but are to help children and families grow in their relationship with God and with each other.

These ministries and events include but are not limited to:

  • Sunday School
  • Wednesday Night Organization and oversight
  • Recreational Activities
  • Spiritual Life Events
  • Trips / Retreats
  • Mission Events
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Serving as staff liasion for other seasonal events.

2.  Connection and follow-up with families who visit in worship and in other church-related activities. This includes connecting with Pre-school parents; build connection between Pre-school and church


3.  Recruit, organize, train, and nurture volunteers and leaders for all children’s ministry activities

Represent Aledo UMC within the community


4.  Curriculum selection and/or development for the above ministries


5.  Maintain and communicate an advanced calendar for Children and Family Ministries

Create and Support a Children’s Ministry Council; be aware of Aledo ISD organization and needs

Implementation of Ministry Safe policy in all areas of Children’s Ministries including background checks


6.  Planning, oversight, implementation, and communication of budget for the above Ministries and Programs


7.  Working closely with the Director of Student Ministries to ensure a smooth transition for students moving into our Youth Group.



The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or other certification relating to children’s ministries and 2-3 years’ experience in the local church.
