Position Title:  Director of Children’s Ministry         

Classification:  Full Time        Salary  TBD


General Summary

The director of children’s ministry will be responsible for the oversight and leadership of all children’s environments, infant through 5th grade.  This will involve the creative development of each of the different environments and the implementation of age appropriate curriculum.  The Director of Children’s ministry will be accountable to spiritually shepherd the children and the volunteers within that ministry environment.  An understanding of the many forms of worship (drama, music, and video) will be needed in order to creatively develop a program that will engage children and to lead them into a greater understanding of Christ.  It is of the utmost importance that the DCM creates safe and nurturing environments and spaces for each different age group of children at First Church of God.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the directing of the Sunday morning experience for all children (infant through 5th grade) at First Church of God.  This will necessitate the recruiting and organization of volunteers for each environment, able to delegate and train leaders, ordering of supplies, developing curriculum and leading through all children’s special events.  Other responsibilities include but not limited to visiting children and family members in the hospital, counseling of children and parents when necessary. 


Character:  Godliness, Passion, Flexibility, and a High level of Integrity along with Humility are essential for this position.

Behavioral Competencies:  strong leadership qualities; creativity; strong work ethic; gifting in administration; and strong communication skills. This person needs to be called into ministry and a “good fit” with the other members of the team.
