Family Pastor Ministry Description: Bethel Community Church
Purpose: Bethel Community Church exists to help people become faithful followers of Jesus. Thus, the ministry of Family Pastor will be to equip people to become faithful followers and help others to do so starting from birth through young
Summary: The Family Pastor will maintain weekend and midweek teaching, recruitment and discipleship of leaders and perform administrative functions relating to all aspects of family development. He will likewise be a shepherd to God’s flock
at Bethel as it relates to these ministries.
Description: The successful candidate will have the gifts and talents to communicate to large groups, small groups and individuals. During the first 24 months of ministry, the Family Pastor will seek to achieve the following goals:
Weekend and midweek teaching or oversight of teaching/discipleship: 35% of time
Family ministry leadership and development: 35% of time
Shared staff ministries (Shepherding care, mentoring, prayer): 15% of time
Teaching team planning and discipleship/development: 15% of time
Increased attendance of young families
Assimilation of first time guests
Assimilation of existing families into further discipleship toward becoming faithful followers of Jesus
Intentional local outreach events as it relates to families
Oversight of Children’s ministry, Student Ministries and parenting ministries
Occasional preaching as assigned by the Board of Elders and Senior Pastor.
Help with shepherding God’s flock through hospital visitation, prayer and other pastoral care duties.
The family Pastor will seek to disciple people into a meaningful relationship with Jesus as a top priority in line with helping people to become faithful followers of Jesus.
Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited bible college with emphasis on family ministry. An M-Div. or certification from an accredited seminary is preferred.
Spiritual gifts: Teaching, leadership, administration
Accountability: This is a full time ministry position answerable to the Board of elders and the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications: Demonstrates the character and qualities seen in 1 Timothy 3: 1 – 7; Titus 1: 5 – 9; 1 Peter 5: 1 – 4. A minimum of 3 years of experience in full time pastoral ministry.
