Position Title:  Family Minister

Position Category:  Ministerial Staff

Reports To:  Senior Pastor

Educational Requirements:  4-year undergraduate degree or relevant experience

Principle Function



The goal of the Family Minister is to lead and provide strategic development and vision to the families involved in our Children and Student Ministries.  This position oversees the success of ministering to each part of the household while fostering health and unity in the separate ministries of Children, Student and Adult Discipleship.


The Family Minister must demonstrate exemplary character and a life that loves Jesus and strives to display that love in every aspect of his/her life.  The Family Minister must also adhere to the guidelines and requirements set forth in our Church’s Bylaws and Policies & Procedures Manual.


The responsibilities and duties of the Family Minister are subject to change based on the direction and vision of the pastor and the leadership of the church.




  • Lead ministry team of volunteers and paid staff in establishing ministry objectives which support and complement the ministry objectives and philosophy of the Church
  • Select and regularly evaluate biblically based curriculum and communicate with ministry team regarding its application for each age level
  • Recruit, train, schedule and supervise teams of volunteers to successfully implement ministry objectives
  • Maintain and communicate to ministry team a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families into the community of the church
  • Propose and effectively manage the ministry’s budget
  • Organize and plan fundraisers during the year for ministry initiatives, such as camp




  • Plan, lead and supervise special ministry events such as VBS, baby dedications, camp, retreats and other family events
  • Communicate consistently with parents and provide tools needed for spiritual leadership in their homes
  • Collaborate with the Child Development Center Director and other children’s ministry employees and volunteers to effectively create and leverage opportunities for coordination and outreach to families in the community
  • Visit and/or coordinate care, counseling, hospital visits, meals, etc. for children, students, and their families when needed




  • Create environments, activities and programs for all children and students that facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth
  • Develop structure for our staff’s spiritual and vocational progression
  • Attend conferences and educational programs to aid in continued spiritual and professional development
