Living Hope Church in Toledo Ohio is seeking a full time Senior Pastor to lead our family focused church of 70-100 people in a blended contemporary/traditional service.  

We desire a spiritual man with strong commitment to Jesus Christ, a passion for God’s Word, strong preaching skills, a servant’s heart, leadership and teaming abilities, and a strong desire to lead our congregation in the following discipleship process:

Connect with God in our Sunday Worship Celebration.
Grow in the fellowship of a growth community.
Serve faithfully on a ministry team.
Go and share the gospel with others.

The Pastor of our church shall have the character and spiritual giftedness identified in 1Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. He shall agree with and adhere to the basic doctrines of faith as defined by the Doctrinal Statement of the church and fully support the Constitution and Membership Covenant of the church.

Job Description - Senior Pastor
The Senior Pastor of Living Hope Church has been called to this position by God himself. We realize that this man cannot be everything to everyone. Although it is impossible to cover every situation or detail, this document is an attempt to define the expectations of the Senior Pastor of Living Hope Church.

The most basic expectation is that a pastor is a spiritual person with a strong commitment to Jesus Christ. The call to ministry is a call to faithfulness and all ministry flows from that faith.

The Pastor of this church shall be a man who has the character and spiritual giftedness identified as qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. He shall agree with and adhere to the basic doctrines of faith as defined by the Doctrinal Statement of the church and shall fully support the Constitution and Membership Covenant that is defined in the church Constitution. He shall have a degree in any form of Theological study and shall be ordained or successfully complete an ordination process within two years. At least 6 years of experience is preferred.

Church Foundation
Living Hope has established a strong stance for the Bible and its teachings. Our Doctrinal Statement, Purpose Statement , and Members Covenant are all defined in our church Constitution. All staff positions are expected to support these policies. We use our Policy and Procedures manual to guide general church procedures.

Personal Spirituality and Growth
1.An intentional, daily devotional time.
2.Demonstrate an intentional plan for spiritual growth.
3.Devote several hours of study each month on material not specifically directed to sermon preparation.
4.Dedicate time daily to prayer and seek to be a spirit-led leader.

Family Life
1.Recognize the influence of a supportive family as a significant impact in the success of ministry, even though members of the family are not responsible for ministry.

Personal and Professional Growth
1.Participate in a meeting of local church leaders on a regular basis.
2.Participate in  developmental conferences regularly

1.The proclamation of God’s Word, centered in Jesus Christ, should be the main focus.
2.Maintain doctrinal and hermeneutical soundness in all sermons.
3.Deliver sermons in a creative and motivating manner.
4.Spend adequate study and preparation time each week.
5.Plan a preaching schedule at least one quarter in advance with varied styles of sermons, meeting the congregation’s needs while following the lead of the Holy Spirit.
6.Deliver and lead church ordinances (baptism, communion, etc)

Pastoral Services
1.Maintain scheduled and published office hours.
2.Provide spiritual counseling and/or referral for members’ crisis situations as needed.
3.Maintain a regular and systematic program of member visitation.
4.Officiate over weddings and funerals.

Church Growth
A personal involvement in soul winning will model a passion for people, not because of being paid for a job, but out of love for Christ.
1.Provide leadership toward church growth, including a training program on witnessing and a ministry that demonstrates the love and care we have for our members and community.
2.Involve members in spiritual gifts identification, equipping, training, organizing, and discipling, including an on-going program of Growth Groups.
3.Nurture youth involvement and assimilation in the church.
4.Provide a focus for the church including a focus on missions, outreach and reaching the lost.
5.The pastor shall provide the role of elder/overseer (Acts 20:28, Philippians 1:1, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9), evangelist (2 Timothy 4:5, Matthew 28:19), shepherd (Acts 20:28, 1 Peter 5:1-4), preacher/teacher (Acts 6:4, Ephesians 4:11, 2 Timothy 4:1-4, Titus 1:9) and equipper (Ephesians 4:12, 2 Timothy 2:2).

1.Lead the church in establishing short term and long-range objectives.
2.The Senior Pastor will act as manager for all church staff and ministry leaders.
3.Develop, in coordination with the Deacon Board and lay leadership, a training program for each ministry position and provide the teaching or training for such a program.
4.Develop an annual review process for all church staff and volunteers and implement with the assistance of the Deacon Board.
5.Coordinate with the chairman of the Deacon Board to facilitate congregational meetings.
6.Work with the church clerk and treasurer to maintain church business and records.
7.Provides visionary leadership and direction by acting as an ex officio member on ministry teams, such as outreach, missions, budget, etc.
8.Work in harmony with the actions of the deacon board, and hold people accountable for their obligations.
9.Prepare information and reports on a monthly basis along with the deacon board.
10.Undergo an annual evaluation.
11.Cooperate with association, state and denomination leaders with ethical / cultural concerns.

Professional Ethics
1.Live in harmony with biblical beliefs, be loyal in word and deed.
2.Be faithful in returning tithe.  
3.Be honest and fair in all business and interpersonal relationships.
4.Maintain sensitivity to groups with special needs, e.g. elderly, disabled, single parents.
5.If problems arise, follow the Biblical and church-established conflict resolution and disciplinary procedures.
6.Give full energy to the ministry.
