Job Description:

PURPOSE: To convey the vision, mission, and values of Chapel Hill Bible Church by leading all

components of communications and marketing. His or her aim is to inspire CHBC to embrace

our Gospel Vision and join us in seeking people to be transformed by the gospel.


GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible for managing and directing CHBC’s internal and

external communications, creating communication strategies and serving as the key

spokesperson and media contact for the church. He or she handles all church-wide messaging in

the church outside of the Sunday morning sermons and works to build teams to support all facets

of church communications (print, media, web, etc.), marketing, and brand management.


EDUCATION: A high level of expertise concerning marketing and branding, whether through a

degree, self-education, experience or some combination thereof.




 Manage all aspects of CHBC related websites

     o Content Management – timely, current, and appropriate to CHBC

     o Efficient and effective functionality

     o Artistic and creative excellence

 Lead all efforts related to the creation and development of all websites

     o May work with web development companies

     o May create and develop sites internally

 Proactively ensure CHBC maintains an effective presence on the web including

style/presence, search engines, and new technology



 Develop system to organize, prioritize, and communicate promotional items related to


 Create communication strategies to market, inform, and promote teaching series, big

events, and other campaigns assigned

 Oversee all written materials related to promotions

 May require writing or securing writers

 Editing and proof-reading for accuracy and appropriateness

Social Media

 Create social media presence for CHBC including but not limited to Facebook and


 Manage ongoing social media messaging and communication strategies

 Creatively build followings on various social media outlets


 Lead efforts to design all art and promotional materials related to church-wide activities

with a high standard of creativity, excellence, and effectiveness

 Network with paid and volunteer artists to develop graphic designs


 Strategize creative tactics to use video to promote CHBC’s mission, vision, and values

within the church and also externally

 Work closely with the Media Director to produce creative and effective promotional

videos: concept, scripting, video shoots, editing and post-production.

Cooperation, Coordination, and Team Building

 Work in tandem with the Connections Director to create consistency in messaging from

the front door to the back door

 Work in tandem with the Worship Team to implement creative ways to communicate

desired messages with the worship audience

 Work with the Preaching Team to develop titles for teaching series and sermons

 Develop volunteer teams as deemed necessary to accomplish communications goals

 Recruit, train, and care for volunteer such as artists, designers, photographers, writers

 Recruit and train interns in order to delegate projects and develop new talent


Brand Management

 Monitor the look, vibe, and feel of all promotional materials representing CHBC

 Police the use of logos and images that represent CHBC

 Create policies and procedures related to the branding of CHBC and related entities


Media Relations

 Create positive relationships with local and national media

 Oversee efforts related to securing or responding to media attention

 Develop policy and procedures related to media relations




Demonstrable competency in the following software:

 Microsoft Office

 Final Cut Pro

 Photoshop

 In-Design

 Dreamweaver

 Illustrator

 Coda

 Motion

 Powerpoint

 Keynote

 Mac and PC Operating



 Successful goal setting, follow-up, and achievement skills

 Ability to focus and specialize on specific tasks

 Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in

situations where only limited standardization exists
