Job Description:

The Mount Joy Church of God is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor.

The Mount Joy Church of God is located in the heart of Mount Joy Borough, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and has a population of approximately 8,000 with an active downtown.  The borough and its surrounding neighboring municipalities were some of the fastest growing in Lancaster County according to 2010-2013 census information.

The successful senior pastor candidate will be spiritually and emotionally mature.  He or she will have the ability to draw and retain young families while continuing to engage the current congregation and at the same time, cast vision and lead the church into the future that God has planned.  He or she will have the ability to mobilize God's people to implement the vision and mission through the ministries of the church.  In short, we are looking for a Godly, transformational leader.

The successful candidate will be a gifted and trained teacher and preacher who can present the Word with skill.  He or she will be wise and compassionate with the ability to shepherd God's flock with care.

Mount Joy Church of God is a more traditional church with a rich heritage, but percussion, guitars, and keyboards are not foreign to our worship services.  In fact, we are seeking a new pastor who can lead us into a more blended worship style.  The congregation meets Sunday mornings to celebrate, worship, learn, and fellowship with other believers.  We proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and seek to learn more about Him each week through our worship services, Sunday School hour, and our small group ministry.

We are a financially-strong, debt-free church, with much to offer and room to grow beyond the 150 people who regularly attend.  The church facilities resemble both who we are and who we are capable of becoming.  The facilities include a sanctuary constructed in 2005, which seats 225, and a Sunday School wing with several classrooms and a social hall.  We have retained and maintained the original bethel from the late 1800s which serves as a venue for special services and events.

The successful candidate must possess the proper ministerial credentials or be willing to obtain the proper ministerial credentials from the Churches of God General Conference.  A minimum of five years of successful ministry experience is preferred.

Interested individuals should provide the following:

  • letter of interest,
  • resume,
  • link(s) to sermon(s)
