Job Description:

This profile presents a composite picture of the characteristics that our church seeks in a Senior Pastor. The Pastor Search Team, along with help from the congregation, has developed this profile to give a clear picture of the qualifications and qualities the Lord has directed us to look for in our next pastor.



- Bachelor’s Degree required


Biblical Qualifications:

- 1 Peter 5:1-4

- Titus 1:5-9

- 1 Timothy 3:1-7

- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18


Ministry& Leadership Experience:

- 7-10 years of Ministry/Leadership Experience

- Ordination preferred


Doctrines and Beliefs:

- 100% compatible with our Statement of Faith:

- Willingness to become ordained in the Brethren Church


Pastoral Style & Focus:

- Strong devotional and prayer life

- Energetic and able to inspire the church

- Connects well with people from the pulpit, with bible centered teaching

- Approachable and personable

- Able to equip church members for growth and leadership

- Maintain a healthy ministry/life balance


Primary Functions:

- Plans Sunday services in coordination with the worship team

- Leads the congregation in effective programs to fulfill the Great Commission with vision, purpose, & priority

- Develops annual budget with support from staff and ministry teams, and submits to Governance Board

- Provides leadership for existing ministry teams and staff

- Conducts wedding services, counseling services, and funerals

- Coordinates with denomination leaders to carry out the mission of the church

- Voting member of Governance Board


Weekly Hours:

- Develop and maintain a schedule of office hours

- Minimum 40 hours per week


Compensation and Benefits:

- Salary: competitive, commensurate with experience, housing and retirement funded

- Health care: must provide own, sick leave earned

- Relocation: negotiable based on need  

- Vacation: two weeks, negotiable based on tenure
