Principle Function:     Children's Ministry.

                                      (Reports to the Senior Pastor)



  • Born again Christian.
  • Must possess patience and wisdom in dealing with people.
  • Must possess an attitude of humility, submissiveness, enthusiasm and diligence.
  • Must have proven leadership skills, organizational skills, and good people skills.
  • Must have adequate education or equivalent experience in pastoral ministry with emphasis on discipleship and evangelism.
  • Must have experience with recruiting, training and releasing ministry workers.
  • Must have experience supervising non-paid ministry staff.
  • Must have a servant heart and a willingness to embrace the vision of the POBC.
  • The mannerisms, habits, and dress of this individual must reflect favorably upon the work of God.
  • Must be a tither.

Term:   Pastoral employees are hired by the Senior Pastor and approved by the Board of Directors.


Compensation: This position is a full time pastoral position with salary set by the Board of Directors with a

                           30 day, 90 day, and one year review.


Benefits:     Two weeks paid vacation; Major holidays off (unless they fall on a Sunday) New Year’s,

                    Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas.  Allowed four sick days per year.

                    All vacation time must be pre-approved at least one month in advance.


Work Schedule:  TBD - This is a salaried position.


Ministerial Credentials:  Work toward obtaining credentials through Open Bible Churches.



POBC Children’s Pastor Position


  • Proven spiritual maturity.
  • Has successfully walked through tough times in and out of ministry situations.
  • Is committed to be a doer of the Word and has a daily devotional life with God.
  • 2 years serving as a Children’s Pastor.
  • Ability to teach God’s Word in an engaging way, on the level of children.
  • Experience with cross-cultural ministry.
  • Someone with the heart of a missionary.
  • Hands-on experience in a successful evangelism program for children.
  • A strong Biblical foundation.
  • An excellent teacher to children.
  • With the Pastor and other staff, the congregation, and children’s parents.
  • An organized person who thinks and plans ahead with schedules, activities, calendar, etc.
  • The ability to work under pressure.



  • Children’s ministry is a calling, not a stepping stone.
  • A heart of compassion to see children grow in Christ and faith in God’s Word.
  • Cannot be timid to reach out to parents and children in the community.
  • To be a timely person.
  • Office hours, services, staff and church meetings, etc.
  • Must set a godly example and have an excellent reputation in the community.
  • Must be a person of high integrity.
  • Must be a person where the fruit of the Spirit as stated in Galatians 5 is demonstrated.
  • Be a part of the “All Hands on Deck” events for the church.
  • Must possess a 100% teamwork mentality.
  • Staff unity is expected at all times. 
  • As Children’s Pastor, it is expected to be a help in any other ministry in the church as needed-- we work together as a team at POBC.



Children’s Ministries  

This position exists to reach and disciple children from our community and church family.


Key responsibilities include:


180 KIDS OUTREACH  (4 years – 6th grade)

  • Lead our weekly Saturday outreach to children in the community.  This has many facets including:  recruiting, training, and coordinating teachers and lessons, weekly phone calls to parents, bus routes, weekly promotion, leading non-paid staff of approximately 20 people, all administration, and more.


 PRE-SCHOOL – Sunday  (ages 3 – K)

  • Recruit, train, organize, and schedule teachers and helpers.
  • Provide age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Coordinate check-in and safety system.
  • Coordinate Sunday bus route.

 KIDS CHURCH- Sundays  (grades 1-5)

  • Recruit, train, organize, and schedule teachers and helpers.
  • Provide age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Coordinate Sunday bus route.


  • Keep the children’s portion of the  website updated regularly, while also using other appropriate social media to promote, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.
  • Partnership with parents
  • Sharing with them in the ongoing discipleship of their children.
  • Thoroughly communicating the children’s calendar.
  •  Involving parents in activities and services at appropriate times. 
  • Initiating and overseeing a yearly calendar of activities including camps, yearly fundraisers….  
  • Oversight of children’s ministry and 180 financial accounts.  
  • Submit Weekly Reports.


Serving as a vital part of the church's pastoral team.

  • Staff meetings
  • Event planning
  • Visibility during Sunday morning services.
  • Willingly assist in other church gatherings as possible.
  • Have an on-going and measureable personal spiritual growth plan.

 Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor if needed.

  • Teach a CSI class or lead a 20:20 Home Group
  • Attend all church leadership meetings and staff meetings.
  • Attend all major events.
  • Teamwork mentality….  Whatever it takes J


Must commit to serve as Children’s Pastor at POBC for a minimum of three years.
