About us:

               Hunt Valley Church, located in Hunt Valley, Maryland is a thriving, steadily growing PCA church with weekend attendance over 1,000.  Our congregation is about to break ground on a significant building expansion, including a new worship auditorium.  We are looking for an experienced, positive, and gifted leader with a mature passion for Christ and communicating His message, to serve as Coordinator of High School Ministries at our church. 



              To develop and oversee an effective ministry to High School youth both inside and outside HVC that will encourage them in developing a healthy personal relationship with Christ and His church, with other group members, and with unchurched people in their culture. 



              Maintains personal spiritual growth through regular spiritual disciplines

              Embodies and supports mission, vision and core values of HVC in these ministry areas

              Maintains a “servant heart” and function with a “whatever-it-takes” attitude

              Will move towards church membership within the first year

              Trains qualified people in the church to help lead and build the senior high student ministry

              Plans and participates in high school student ministry events and trips

              Builds relationships with senior high students apart from programmed events

              Attends Sunday services at HVC as well as other special events, as they relate to youth activities

              Promotes student ministries enthusiastically and creatively throughout the church

              Makes budget recommendations to the Dir.of Student Ministries; responsible for HS budget

              Secures feedback on ministries and continually strive to improve quality

              Develops an effective HS Ministry Team


              Philosophy/Key Values:

                    Evangelism is a process to be done in the context of relationships over a period of time

                    Multiple ministry environments are needed to accommodate the various growth and                                       interest levels present in students where they can:

                                       Process the gospel and its implications bit by bit

                                       Grow and be nurtured in Christian discipleship

                                       Personally discuss and internalize their faith

                                       Be trained and developed in using their spiritual gifts

                                       Be equipped with leadership skills

                                       Authentically live out their faith in service, mercy and mission

                    Ministry to students is done “pragmatically” (i.e. evaluated in terms of effectiveness)

                                       The group is growing in size

                                       Marginal students are becoming more involved

                                       “Outsiders” are coming, being welcomed and included

                                       Relationships are being deepened

                                       Students are growing in Christ in terms of their desire:

                                               Spend personal time with God

                                               Reach others through evangelism, service and mission

                    Student ministry is most effectively done as a team, as the Body of Christ, where                                              students can be divided into smaller groups and leaders.  

                                      This enables us to:

                                      Help students grow

                                      Have opportunities for student and adult leadership in a team context

                                      Minister to students on a level they deserve

                    Student ministry must be done with excellence to reflect God and attract students



The ideal candidate will be…

A mature and growing follower of Jesus

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience in student ministry, including training of volunteers

Skill/gifting in leadership, teaching, relationship building, and planning



              RESPONSIBLE FOR:  Any volunteers recruited to assist

              RESPONSIBLE TO:  Director of Student Ministries

              WORKS CLOSELY WITH:  Parents, Volunteers, Children’s Director, Coord. of Middle School Ministries



              Relational skills to interact effectively with small groups and individuals

              Heart for students

              Outreach mentality

              Gifts in areas of administration, leadership, teaching

              Momentum builder

              Working knowledge of biblical doctrine and ministry principles


              Endurance, patience, energy, enthusiasm

              Ability to stay current and contextualize the gospel for today’s students



              Meets regularly with the Director of Student Ministries

              Seminars and other continuing education opportunities

              Leader Community for support, vision-building and training
