Job Description:

Victory Life is a growing church 15 minutes north of Akron, Oh in a mid-sized suburban setting.  We are a well-established, evangelical, non-denominational church that is presently turning our attention to the previously un-churched in our community.  We are interested in taking the next step in our growth by adding an Executive Pastor to our staff.  The Executive Pastor would fulfill many of the administrative aspects of effective ministry.  The job would include oversight of volunteerism, creating a discipleship pathway for the previously un-churched, management of church communication and facility administration. 


Our present staff is made up of exhorters who desire to add the value of a Pastor who is gifted in administration and systems.  Applicants should have experience in both traditional pastoring as well as administration.

Job Description


Position Summary:


  • Oversee the day to day operations of the church facility
  • Facilitate implementation of the churches’ vision
  • Manage volunteer leaders and volunteer calendar
  • Evaluate church organization and coordinate programs for effectiveness

-Specifically new attender, volunteer and member assimilation, and discipleship structures.

  • Direct community and facility communications 


Spiritual Qualifications:


  • A committed disciple of Jesus Christ
  • Demonstrates a lifestyle of biblical eldership (Titus 1:5-9)
  • Committed to the inspiration of Scripture (2nd Timothy 3:16-17) 
  • A history of being a unifying presence in previous churches 


General Qualifications:


  • Ability to effectively convey and help realize the goals of the church
  • Demonstrates an ability to manage and inspire volunteer workers
  • Exhibits a detail-oriented nature
  • Training in systems analysis and implementation
  • Aptitude for effective communication in large and small settings
  • Capacity to teach and lead in both congregational and classroom settings


Job Responsibilities:


  • Bring structure to the vision of the church by coordinating between leadership, training volunteers and enriching leaders
  • Work to update the church facility though visioning, budgeting, information gathering and acting as a purchasing agent
  • Work with volunteer leaders to ensure a good experience for first time attenders and return visitors
  • Assimilate regular attenders into church life via volunteerism, discipleship, baptism and membership
  • Evaluate the need for changes to the church infrastructure and present ideas to the Senior Pastor and Elder Board
  • Develop a team and oversee communications including the church website, social media, community publicity, in-house announcements, and in-service video production
  • Work with Senior Pastor to encourage effective communication in the Sunday morning worship experience
  • Work with Senior Pastor, Elders and Care team for effective care ministry
  • Participate in the Sunday morning worship service
  • Participate in pastoral duties including preaching, teaching, counseling, baptisms and visitation as determined by the overhauled church infrastructure  


Education and Experience:

  • 5 or more years’ experience in leadership in the church or business environment
  • Candidates with undergraduate degree in business, technology, or marketing preferred
  • Pastoral education at the undergraduate level or M.Div. required
