Position:  Children and Family Pastor

Worship Style – Traditional and Contemporary Sunday services

Denomination – Presbyterian

Church size – 3,000

The Church

Highland Park Presbyterian Church, located in the heart of the Park Cities area of Dallas, currently has 1,800 attendees each Sunday, with 300 comprised of children and students. There are five service styles offered across the campus.

For almost ninety years, Highland Park Presbyterian Church has been a mission-driven, multi-generational and multi-cultural congregation committed to leading people into a transforming relationship with Jesus. “Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we express our love for God through tangible acts of compassion and justice in our everyday lives.  And using our gifts and resources, we seek to glorify God through heartfelt worship, a life rooted in Scripture, and an experience of authentic community.” (from Mission Study Task Force Report 2013)

Kids Ministry

The first statement on the Children’s website page reads, Even the youngest child can know the love of Christ. That’s why it's never too early to intentionally share the message of God’s love with our children. This rings true in every part of the ministry to children at HPPC.  With a deep desire to be a place where families are welcome and feel their children are being ministered to on an age appropriate level, coupled with a sense of community and fellowship, HPPC demonstrates how they value families.

Recently, there has been a rise in new families attending on Sundays. The Hall worship is buzzing with families. You find round tables and color sheets at tables in the back side corners of Elliot Hall.  With an anticipation that this trend will continue, the church is ready to embrace and support the next pastor to children and their families.

The children’s ministry is divided into three areas, Early childhood (Birth to Kindergarten), Elementary (1st to 4th grades) and JAM56.

The Opportunity

The children’s ministry has been without a person in this role since the Fall of 2015.  Although, strong and consistent, the staff is leader-driven and have a desire for this role to be filled with someone who has vision, is approachable and will be invested in the families and the staff.

A hand picked search committee,  has already been praying for the next pastor.  They are hoping to find someone who is an empowering leader, who can take the church into the next season of ministry to young families as a whole church body.  The church has adopted the Sticky Faith model in many areas. With a strong desire to connect the generations, through opportunity and value, there is room for the next leader to develop an intergenerational opportunity for investing.

Most recently, the minister to families oversaw all of birth through 12th grade. Since the ministry has grown, the role has been re-focused into two lead opportunities.  This is intended to provide more specific and balanced leadership in the areas of Tween, Elementary and Early Childhood and the parents represented.

Overall, a leader who will engage with the families and be a pastoral presence to both parents and their children will find a vast canvas of opportunities at HPPC.
