Job Description:

Immanuel Church is a growing and vibrant evangelical church of 1000+ in the northern suburbs of Chicago.  We are committed to creating irresistible environments that facilitate our mission of helping people know Jesus and grow to be like HIm.  We are currently seeking a full-time Director of Kids Ministries.  This person will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for all ministry environments seeking to engage kids (and their parents) from birth through fifth grade.  We believe an effective kids ministry will provide engaging environments for kids, and will also help to equip parents in their role as primary spiritual influencers.  Some of the current features of our Kids Ministry, in addition to our Sunday morning environments, include a midweek environment for fourth and fifth graders, seasonal Upward Basketball, and an innovative special needs room.  The ideal candidate is a mature disciple of Christ, a proven leader, holds at least a bachelor’s degree, and has experience leading a local church children’s ministry or similar environment.



Position Summary: As a member of the Leadership Team, to provide overall leadership, management, and visionary direction to icKids Ministries.

 


Position Responsibilities

 

1. To Provide Strategic Oversight & Evaluation to icKids. 

     -To create environments where kids, volunteer leaders, and families can come to know Jesus and grow to

       be like Him.

     -To create and/or implement effective curriculum that reflects the vision and values of Immanuel Church.

     -To specialize in early childhood spiritual development.

2. To Train, Develop, and Shepherd icKids Staff.

     -To provide resources which help each staff member continually improve in their respective role.

     -To monitor sustainability of workload, hours worked, and program capacity.

     -To implement team building experiences which build trust .

     -To discern growth areas for specific staff members and invite them into growth.

3. To Recruit & Train Volunteer Leaders.

     -Ability to cast vision to Immanuel Church for icKids Involvement.

     -To train volunteers to help kids pursue knowing Jesus, and growing to be like Him.

4. To Collaborate with Parents of Kids within Immanuel Church.

     -Providing programs, child dedications, teachings, etc. as needed.

5. To Be An Active Member of the Leadership Team, Which Include The Duties Below:

     -Attending weekly leadership team meetings.

     -Working on cross-functional teams as assigned by Leadership Team.

     -Promote the shared mission and values of Immanuel Church, and be willing to perform various

      leadership/pastoral responsibilities.

 


Essential Skills and Experience

 

Decisiveness – The ability to be self-motivated and to gather the information needed to make decisions. 

Vision – To carry and communicate a compelling vision for icKids.

Culture Creator – Proven ability to lead teams that engage kids in spiritual development, in particular through teaching and curriculum development.

Collaboration – Willingness to work with & learn from others in order to carry out common goals.

Adaptation – The ability to embrace change & lead others towards it.

Teaching/Speaking - Able to lead/speak from up front.

Volunteer Development – To create unique roles for volunteers to lead according to their gifts.

Member of Immanuel Church (or willing to become a member)

Supervisory Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or four or more years of closely related experience (Minimum). 

 

Reports To: Pastor of Ministry Environments

Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000
