Job Description:

History of epikos

What began as a gathering of a few small groups in early 2004 has grown to over 1800 attendees at two campuses in the Milwaukee area. The East Side Campus is located in a church that was built in the late 1800s. The West Allis Campus is located in a theater that was built in the early 1900s. Both locations serve as reminders to us that in our work for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we know that we are joining God in what he has already been doing here.

Distinctives of epikos

Our mission is to make more and better disciples. We do that through worship, small groups, and serving. God has given us a platform to lead in Milwaukee as a growing church that stays small (we are a church of small groups, not with small groups), focuses on the margins (heavy on college students, young professionals, blue collar, and urban), and hands over the keys (equipping and empowering leaders and disciples to accomplish mission without a dependency on the church organization).

The people of epikos

We currently have over 425 people serving in and through epikos, along with almost 900 regularly involved in small groups. We are humbled at this involvement and commitment, but we know that we have opportunity for growth in these areas. We believe that God has provided the space for us to bring on full-time staff member who can support the teams and ministries through leading scalable approaches to assimilating people into the life of the church.

epikos plans

Later this summer, we will be launching a third campus, epikos North Side. As we continue to be proactive in multi-ethnic and multi-economic ministry, we are humbled and excited at this opportunity the Lord has given us to join him in his work in this area of the city.
