At Perkiomenville Mennonite Church, our desire is to be an integrated part of the community, caring for people’s needs with the love of God and discipling them in the faith. We have named our building the Christian Life Center because we have a vision of
it being a resource for the community.
We are now seeking a full-time Lead Pastor to join our church family. The Lead Pastor will play a crucial role as he helps to provide leadership to the congregation as part of a pastoral team in accordance with the church’s vision, mission, core values, and
theology, with an emphasis on preaching, teaching, and congregational care.
The Lead Pastor’s responsibilities will include:
Serving as the primary preacher for Sunday mornings, preaching approximately 40 times per year.
Teaching Sunday School classes or at other venues as needed.
Visiting various members of the congregation at home, in the hospital, and in nursing care facilities.
Performing weddings, baptisms, and funerals.
Working with youth and adults to provide direction and counsel as needed.
Coaching the Prayer, Service, Fellowship, and Worship ministries, the Greeters and Ushers, and the
Pastoral Care team.
Helping to lead, oversee, and administer the implementation of the vision and mission of the church.
Helping to equip and empower leaders for ministry (especially lay leadership).
We are looking for the following skills:
Communication: Must relate well to all ages, be personable; a good listener and a good counselor.
Administration: Must be aware of what is happening in the congregation and follow up with plans to address various issues.
Teamwork: Needs to be a team player.
Speaking: Must be gifted in teaching and preaching.
Leadership: Must be a strong leader, evidencing skills in strategic goal setting, managing change, building relationships/teams, providing feedback, motivating others, etc.
To be in alignment with our church’s beliefs and culture, the Lead Pastor should:
Be familiar and comfortable with the Mennonite Confession of Faith.
Be committed to promoting discipleship within the church.
Have a missional vision toward the community and the world.
The ideal candidate will have theological training and 10-15 years of experience. Computer literacy is required.
