Job Description:

University City is a vibrant church that serves a diverse community of 700+ believers.  We have 2 completely different services that occur in the same worship space with a 15 minute transition in between.  Both services are attended by hundreds of faithful members and guests.  We are intentional in the planning and execution of both traditional and non-traditional services. The heart of University City is to make disciples and to build the kingdom.


The purpose of the Technical Arts Director is to provide support and leadership from a technical perspective to the 11:00, Non-Traditional Service at UCUMC. Not only will the person in this position have the abilities to do the work needed, but will also be able to provide training and guidance to others who wish to serve UCUMC in this capacity. A secondary role will be to provide technical support for the execution of the 9:45 Traditional service.

  • Primary technical responsibilities include Digital Audio Mixing and Lighting design and programming


Description of Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Worship Director and Pastor of the Non-Traditional Service
  • Produce weekly Non-Traditional services and special events
  • Provide technical support to the Traditional Service Leadership
  • To be an active participant in the creative process for the Non-Traditional Service, including but not limited to audio, video, lighting and stage build/design
  • Recruit, build, and train team of volunteers
  • 15 hours per week


Desired skills:

  • Live Front of House Digital Audio engineering
  • Ability to program lighting controller with conventional and intelligent lighting
  • Proficient in Pro-Presenter, Key Note, and Power Point
  • Strong trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to shoot, create, and edit videos using computer based editing software
  • Familiar with Mac OS
  • Excellent conflict management and problem solving skills



  • Knowledge of video projectors and video projection systems (AMX)
  • Knowledge of crossovers, amplifiers, and speaker arrays
