Ministry Responsibilities


Responsible for the Overall Vision for the Youth Ministry as it Lines up with the Overall Vision of the Church at Large

  • Consistent time alone with God to hear His vision for the ministry
  • Cast the vision to volunteer staff and students
  • Implement and execute the vision in the Youth ministry
  • This vision and oversight will be direct oversight of 9th -12th grades as well as indirect oversight and development of the Junior High Pastor.
  • Understands the Word well, and is concerned about the students love for Jesus and His Word.
  • Proven track record that you can get “things” done (i.e. move a ministry in an entirely different direction.



Shepherd & Oversee 9th-12h grade students

  • Pray weekly for the students in the Youth Ministry
  • Primary teaching responsibility at Mid-week Youth program
  • Primary teaching responsibility on Sunday mornings
  • Lead and develop a Youth Ministry Worship Leader
  • Lead a Youth small group (Depending on Staffing Needs)
  • Training of Core Team students
  • Weekly School campus presence(i.e. Trabuco HS, Tesoro, Santa Margarita HS, etc.)
  • Engage Bridge groups within the ministry (to be explained by the senior pastor)
  • The high school ministry is a fun and thoughtful place to be; energy is high and the atmosphere is saturated in love and acceptance
  • Parents or guardians of the students are communicated to on a monthly basis (bi-weekly is preferred). Students have a presence in first service (main service)
  • Pastor is up to date with youth culture and trends, yet is able to be relevant without compromising the Word of God.
  • Must be a deft communicator into the Rancho Santa Margarita youth culture (i.e. sports culture, gaming culture, etc.)


 Shepherd and Oversee High School Ministry Staff

  • Multiply and equip leaders (i.e. build & mentor leaders, with a theological, spiritual and ecclesiological vision in line with the church)
  • These leaders will look like Christ (leaders will: glorify God – Matt. 5:14-16; mediate on and pray over His word – psalm 119:18; be optimistic – rom. 8:28; be intense – Rev. 3:16; thick skinned 2 Cor. 4:16; energetic 1 Cor. 15:10; a Good thinker – Col. 4:4; tactful – Co. 4:5-6; theologically oriented – 1 Cor. 2:16; a dreamer – Joel 2:28; decisive – 1 Kings 18:21; perseverant – Matt. 24:13; and restful – Mark 6:31)
  • Recruit high school Leaders
  • Weekly contact with high school Leaders
  • Train and resource high school Leaders
  • Constant communication with students and parents
  • Sunday morning high school ministry is created to be highly engaging and dynamic
  • Wednesday Night High School mid-week is also engaging, highly energetic and accessible to new students; the word is still taught but with a lighter bent compared to Sundays.



Responsible for the Admin. Needs of the Ministry

  • Plan and coordinate Youth camps and retreats
  • Plan and coordinate Youth special events
  • Plan and forecast Youth Ministry budget each year alongside Executive pastor. (Total Budget will be provided – responsible for allocating entire funds respective to the High School Ministry under supervision)
  • Weekly Sunday morning set-up and logistics
  • Other high school administrative needs (i.e. High School Database)
  • Making promotional items for events, trips and programs
  • Attend church staff meetings



Youth Pastor Position DNA

  • A Masters Degree in related field, theological or otherwise is not required but preferred
  • Must possess the gifting of a shepherd/teacher but have a bent toward the apostolic
  • A proven track record in junior high and high school ministry of at least 5 years
  • Position is in a Spirit Filled, Pentecostal, Foursquare Church
  • Hourly commitment: 50+ hrs. week
  • Compensation Commitment:  TBD by Church Council
