Job Description:

Purpose:  To direct a ministry that will equip families in the raising of their children with the knowledge of God’s word and love, will nurture children within our church body, and reach out into the community


Reports to:  Senior Pastor


Oversight of:  Paid nursery workers, Volunteer teachers, and children



  1. Plan and implement Sunday morning KidsDock Children’s Ministry
  2. Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for all levels of KidsDock Children’s Ministry
  3. Coordinate a leadership team and hold regular meetings in order to effectively carry out KidsDock initiatives
  4. Ensure that all volunteers complete the Safe Sanctuary process and become certified
  5. Create, maintain, and enforce KidsDock Children’s Ministry policies & procedures to ensure structure and safety
  6. Research, select, and order material and curriculum as needed
  7. Acquire or create weekly lesson plans for the different age groups in KidsDock
  8. Distribute prepared materials, lesson plans, and supplies to all Sunday morning volunteers in a timely manner; or train up volunteers to oversee this aspect
  9. Research, select, and prepare worship music presentation for KidsDock praise time
  10. Regularly check the supplies for each classroom and replenish as needed (i.e. crayons, glue, paper, wipes, etc.)
  11. Arrive early Sunday morning to ensure that the KidsDock area is set up and everything is in place on time
  12. Listen to concerns and suggestions from volunteers and teachers in specific KidsDock Children’s Ministry areas, and make adjustments as necessary
  13. Oversee the implementation and manning of the KidsDock greeting table on Sunday mornings
  14. Plan and hold outreach activities for children in the area, such as VBS, back to school activities, etc.
  15. Create and establish a culture of trust, support, and appreciation among the KidsDock team
  16. Utilize the church database system to maintain class rosters and document new guest follow ups


  • Organized
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • 3-5 years children’s ministry or other teaching experience desired
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of volunteers and positively interact with parents
  • Self-starting and able to work independently
  • Demonstrates evidence of a Christ-like attitude in words and actions
  • Able to interact effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, such as staff members, volunteer workers, parents, grandparents, and children
  • Has a heart and passion for children
  • Proficient in computer applications including productivity, desktop publishing, and multimedia software tools

Compensation:   Part time position averaging 10 hours per week must include Sunday hours. Hourly schedule is flexible during the week. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
