Job Description:

Community Christian Fellowship is an evangelical, non-charismatic congregation. Community exists to bring glory to God by making disciples that love God, grow together in community, and serve others in order to reach the world. We are seeking a part-time Children's Director to join our staff and invest themselves in our growing church family, and south-central Pennsylvania.


Job Statement

To provide and implement vision and strategy for Community’s Children’s Program that compliments our mission to Love God, Grow Together, and Serve Others in order to Reach the World.


General Overview

The Children's Director (CD) is responsible for the spiritual development of the children in the Community Kids ministry. They are to foster the mission of Community within Community Kids by recruiting and training volunteer leadership, providing parents tools for leading their children spiritually and supporting all church-wide events and activities with childcare needs. The CD oversees and ensures safety of all children and manages the children’s facilities to ensure a clean, healthy environment.


The CD may provide administrative support in the office and serves as the AWANA Director.  The CD reports directly to the Lead Pastor & Elders, and works alongside the Pastor of Worship & Student Ministries, Childcare Coordinator, Administrative Assistant and Church Administrator.


Area of Responsibility and Associated Actions


Responsibility #1: Design programming that fosters a love for God

  • Construct programs that incorporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching

  • Design/select gospel-centered curriculum

Responsibility #2: Implement activities that connect children

  • Incorporate teaching times that emphasize community

  • Structure activities that intentionally connect children with other children

Responsibility #3: Provide opportunities for service to others

  • Create opportunities for children to discover their unique shape

  • Train children on serving others by using their unique shape

Responsibility #4: Create events that intentionally reach children and families

  • Develop, plan, and implement outreach events in the surrounding community

  • Complete follow up and assist in the connection of new families in the life of the church

Job Requirements

  • Evident love for God, the gospel, and helping parents grow their kids to mature faith in Jesus

  • College degree, preferably in education or Christian education.

  • Experience in administrating a Children’s Ministry program.

  • Communication skills to be “up front” in a worship setting or large gathering.

  • Administrative abilities including: staff leadership, organizing, recruiting, training, planning, staffing, and budgeting.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary: $20,000

  • Vacation: Two weeks paid

  • Sick leave: four days paid

Weekly Work Schedule (25 hr/wk)

  • Sunday: 9:00AM – 12:00PM

  • Monday:  9:00AM – 2:00PM

  • Tuesday: 9:00AM – 2:30PM

  • Wednesday: 10:00AM – 3:00PM; 6:00PM-8:00PM

  • Thursday: 9:00AM – 2:30PM

  • Friday: Off

  • Saturday: Off


  • Weekly work schedule is flexible.
  • Initially part-time with potential to increase into a full-time position.
