The vision of Salem First Baptist Church is to become a growing family of committed believers with an ever increasing Passion for God, Passion for People, Passion for Spiritual Maturity, and a Passion to Serve.

Salem First Baptist Church (SFBC) exists to share with all who will listen that Jesus Christ changes lives and gives meaning to their existence. It is not a theoretical platitude, but an experience, as attested by those who attend the church. Believers at SFBC seek to fulfill and live out this purpose. SFBC is marked by a strong commitment to biblical Christianity, with highly content driven sermons in both topical and expository forms of delivery. As a church, Salem First Baptist is very outreach-minded, with a long history of serving and supporting missions in both local and global capacities. The church has sustained a rich culture of tradition and wisdom, with a particular emphasis in its quality of teaching that draws believers into its walls.

Salem First Baptist Church seeks an Associate Pastor who will serve alongside the Senior/Lead Pastor as a second-in-command and ministry strategist, developer, and overseer. They will directly assist the Senior/Lead Pastor and provide oversight/leadership to all ministry programming components of the church including Sunday School, Youth, Awana, Children’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry, and Women’s Ministry so as to design, develop, and deploy the directional vision for each ministry. This individual will possess a strong leadership gift, with the skills to scale, and play a key role in executing various executive level leadership responsibilities. This role will place an emphasis on releasing the Senior/Lead Pastor to focus on teaching, vision-casting, and coaching.

A bachelor’s degree with a strong theological understanding is required for this position. The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Associate Pastor:

  • An aptitude for analytical thinking with the ability to offer sound strategic foresight.
  • Self-starter and a result-oriented contributor.
  • A desire to reach excellence throughout every assigned task.
  • A capacity to see the details in programs and processes.
  • Experience in intergenerational outreach preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multi-faceted projects.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and independent work ethic.
  • Highly resourceful with creative problem solving abilities.
  • A strong communicator and manager of both people and processes.

Salem is a desirable family location that reaches beyond the norm in service and quality. A mere 90-minute drive from St. Louis, Missouri, the city is located near museums, the zoo, major entertainment facilities, sports centers, and an international airport. The city also provides recreational and cultural opportunities that allow the pursuit of sports, art, and leisure. A walk through Salem is a walk through history. William Jennings Bryan - The Silver Tongued Orator - is one of Salem's most famous citizens. Salem is the home of the G.I. Bill of Rights, forged from the knowledge of Salem's own American Legion Post, pioneering recognition for those who have fought and stand ready to defend this country's honor. Salem's schools reflect the aspirations and ideals the community has established for its children. All the elements of a good school system are evident within its infrastructure—interested students, dedicated teachers, and modern facilities. The same aggressive spirit of the past pervades this modern community, with its active volunteer support of architectural and historic preservation and beautification projects. To speak of Salem is to speak of history, beauty, and solid American values that appreciate the past and are building for the future with pride.
