Job Description

The Youth Pastor at Big Woods Bible Church (BWBC) will teach the truth of God’s Word concerning salvation and growth in Christ, and live it out as a role model.  He will provide leadership for all aspects of Youth Ministry, including vision-casting, creativity, implementation and evaluation.  He will demonstrate his love for young people by developing and maintaining relationships with the youth of BWBC, as well as other youth from the community.

  • Teach youth during Sunday School and Youth Group.
  • Plan, prepare, schedule and execute events, activities, service projects and mission trips for the youth, for the purpose of fellowship (community), unity, evangelism, teaching discipleship, service and fun.
  • Disciple those youth who desire to grow deeper.
  • Spend time on the youth’s turf (e.g., attend school and sports events, performances, etc.).
  • Utilize youth workers, parents, college students and youth themselves in planning and preparation when needed (e.g., phone calls, transportation, hosting, brainstorming, etc.).
  • Attend Elders’ meetings and weekly staff meeting with Senior Pastor and Administrative Assistant.

  • Serve as an Elder of BWBC and must agree with BWBC’s statement of faith and philosophy of ministry.
  • As a member of BWBC, the Youth Pastor (and his family) will participate in faithful fellowship of the church family.
  • If married, the Youth Pastor’s spouse will be supportive of the Youth Ministry, in a manner consistent with the life-balanced, service expectations of all BWBC members.
  • Guard himself in his conduct with the youth, keeping himself above reproach, not giving any opportunity for an unhealthy relationship to be developed.
  • Continue personal growth and walk with the Lord Jesus in regular Bible study, prayer and fellowship; being careful to attend to his family’s needs, keeping a good balance.
  • Stay in contact with and work alongside the Senior Pastor, Elders and the Youth Ministry Team.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and the congregation.
