The vision of Crossland Community Church is to create a community of refuge and hope for all people, with the Word of God as it’s foundation, the worship of God as it’s expression, and the love of ALL people as its mandate.

With a mission to be a community of refuge and hope for all people, Crossland Community Church has grown, in 12 years, from a small church plant to a 2,000-member congregation with 3 campus locations. Located in South Central Kentucky, and located just blocks away from Western Kentucky University, Crossland is a dynamic, high energy, and engaging church with an unquenchable passion for children and families.

Led by the incredible teaching of Pastor Gregg Ferrell, Crossland Community Church draws hundreds of college students to its weekend services, as well as families that have children with disabilities, due to its special needs ministry. The welcoming environment and commitment to reach people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds, makes Crossland Community Church not only an amazing worship experience to visit, but also an amazing family to belong to.

Crossland seeks a dedicated person to serve at the main campus, who realizes that being a Children’s Pastor is one of the greatest honors and privileges. The position requires a person who is a leader of leaders and an equipper of volunteers, not just someone who is great around kids. This individual will love and embrace creativity, imagination, and ingenuity, while possessing the vital traits of versatility and adaptability.

With this mission in mind, the next Children’s Pastor of Crossland Community Church will be responsible for the ministry of children from birth through 5th grade. This individual will implement the Orange Model for the family ministry, so as to create an environment where children engage with the Word of God and partner with their own families to grow in Christ and his teachings. The Children’s Pastor will have oversight of all aspects of the Children’s Ministry at Crossland including programming collaboration with all Crossland Campuses. He/She is responsible for recruiting, developing, shepherding and maintaining all staff and volunteer teams.

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Children’s Pastor:

  • Skilled in identifying, attracting, and recruiting new leaders
  • Experienced in empowering people and leading teams of staff and volunteers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Successful leadership experience in vision setting
  • Ability to administer and organize budgets, events, and ministry communications
  • Offer creativity, energy, wisdom, discretion, and maturity to ministry dynamics and programming

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of growing a ministry in a community setting that has interactions with people from inter-generational backgrounds and economic statuses. The candidate will have had experience working as an effective leader of ministry teams, with the responsibility of providing vision for volunteers, and the ability to develop and monitor a vibrant, creative, and attractive children’s ministry that is equally focused on family-based discipleship. A 4-year degree is highly preferred for this position. A minimum of 5-years experience serving on staff in a church of at least 1000 average Sunday total attendance is required, and this experience should be from serving in Children’s Ministry departments.
