The Chapel is a community of people who are learning to live the ways, words, and works of Jesus in their world. Driven by a multisite vision, The Chapel functions largely within a structure of campuses. Sustaining 8 campuses encompassing the northern and northwestern region of Chicago, each campus community uniquely relates to their region while executing the overall vision and implementing the mission of the church. The Libertyville Campus is a direct result of this vision. Those who attend the Libertyville Campus are on a journey to daily rediscover God in His love, truth, power, and presence.


The Libertyville Campus Pastor will champion The Chapel’s DNA by leading a single Chapel campus in concert with the overall direction of The Chapel. They will be  responsible for the growth, health, and alignment of a campus by developing community venues, connecting newcomers, and providing pastoral care. ??The Campus Pastor is responsible for a number of deliverables including:

  • Creating a vibrant and attractive church family, measured by campus growth and attendance.
  • Building a financially viable campus, as measured by income, expenses and contributions to the overall church.
  • Spiritually developing and shepherding the people of their campus, as measured by service, giving and involvement in community venues and leading a culture of relational connectedness through authentic Christian community.
  • Leading the campus staff in selection and alignment to effectively accomplish the goals and purposes of the campus

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a setting committed to reaching the unreached, working within a community and promoting innovation through collaboration. They will show a high degree of effectiveness in catalyctic leadership and communication. Work in a multistaff, multi-site setting is strongly preferred. In addition, the individual should show an ability to connect in an intergenerational and multiethnic capacity. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, particularly a Bible college, is a desirable requirement for this position, and a seminary background would be a plus.


This individual will bear the following core competencies so as to successfully execute the responsibilities of this position. They will be--??

A Community Builder: A community builder champions the building of transformational community by living out, communicating the value of and actively developing biblical community.?

A Standard-Bearer: A standard-bearer champions the Chapel’s DNA, message, values and ministry approach, drives for excellence, lives a life of actively rediscovering God and inspires others to do the same.?

A Shepherd: A shepherd identifies where people are at, provides guidance for the whole person and helps individuals take their next steps relationally, emotionally and spiritually.?

A Biblical & Theological Shaper: A biblical and theological shaper studies the Bible, translates his/her study into practical application, and helps others understand and apply God’s truth.?

A Counselor: A counselor senses and identifies the needs of others (emotionally, relationally and spiritually) and assists them by providing sound, biblical advice.


Libertyville is a village in Lake County, Illinois, and an affluent northern suburb of Chicago. It is located 5 miles (8 km) west of Lake Michigan on the Des Plaines River, which forms much of the eastern boundary of the village. The main automobile route to Chicago is via I-94 with Chicago’s loop approximately 45-minutes away from the city. The most prominent industries of the locale are manufacturing, scientific/technical services, and educational services with occupations in management leading the employment sector. While still largely homogeneous, ethnic diversity has increased slightly since the 1960 census, when the population was indicated as being 99.9% white. The unemployment rate is significantly lower than state average, with 66% of the population possessing an undergraduate degree. The most prominent industries of the locale are manufacturing, scientific/technical services, and educational services with occupations in management leading the employment sector. In 2007, Libertyville was named the 52nd best place to live in the U.S. byCNN Money Magazine, while CNN Travel named Libertyville as one of America's best small town comebacks in 2013.
