The vision of Metro Community Church is to be a church where people want to move closer to God, each other, and the disconnected.

Metro Community Church began as a dream in the heart of its founding pastor, Paul Westbrook, long before he ever came to the Edwardsville area. He had a vision of a church that would reach those who had never been to church or perhaps had given up on church, but still needed to hear the truth about how much they mattered to God. Since its first public service in 1991, Metro has grown from that handful of families to over 1,400 people in attendance every weekend. Metro's ministry and influence continues to grow as it continues to pursue its vision to be a church where people want to move closer to God, each other, and the disconnected.

Metro Community Church is looking for a College Ministry Pastor who will serve the church and the community by reaching out to the college campuses in the surrounding area and by creating a dynamic and current weekly gathering for college age students. The goal is to build a strong relationship with surrounding colleges and create opportunities for discipleship and community to campus wide small groups. Discipleship ministry goals and strategies, followed by (1) forming, (2) leading, and (3) coaching teams will be necessary to strategically meet goals. The successful candidate will have a constant and consistent devotional life, including a strong sense of leadership with necessary skills to scale. They will be responsible for steering the leadership, vision, and strategy of a growing college ministry at the church and its campuses.

Success in this position will be based upon reaching the unconnected group of college students on surrounding college campuses; creating all elements, recruiting leaders, and an increased participation in the CRAVE weekly gathering of college students; an active and growing college small group ministry; and a stronger outreach effort characterized by the integration of college aged growth in the overall body of the local church.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry or similar field, with preferably 2-3 years of full-time leadership experience. Additionally, they will be marked by a proven track record of working in a setting committed to reaching unreached college students, with a high degree of creativity, recruitment, and retention of unconnected college students. Proven experience in engaging teaching, creative thinking, problem solving, and collaborative leadership in a fast-paced, innovative environment is strongly preferred.
