SUMMARY: The Information Technology Manager for the Office of the General Assembly (OGA) is a full-time member of the staff team at the national/global office of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (www.epc.org) and guides, develops, manages, and supports the information architecture and technology infrastructure while assisting OGA staff and overseeing technology vendors. Work full-time in Livonia, MI and then reside permanently in Orlando, FL by late summer of 2016.
STATUS: Full-time work in the OGA during office hours and on-call at other reasonable times.
REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer
a) Collaborate with OGA executives and expert resources to define appropriate information architecture and technology infrastructure for the OGA and subordinate entities. Concrete aims include system simplification and stability, anywhere/anytime system and information access, minimum paper storage, eliminated need for an on-site server, and becoming a resource hub.
b) Sustain best user effectiveness and total cost of ownership for OGA information technologies.
c) Help design processes, systems, organization, and skills needed to achieve above goals.
d) Inform and make recommendations to executive staff about emerging technological issues, trends, and needs.
e) Partner with Communications Director to demonstrate that the OGA delivers unique value to the EPC via website, media, mobile and other technologies.
2) Development and configuration.
a) Implement and integrate systems from design through ongoing enhancement.
b) Current priorities are: Document management, Raisers Edge queries, and Crystal reports.
c) Ongoing priorities are: BlackBaud applications (Raisers Edge, Net Community web platform, Financial Edge, and ImportOmatic), Shopify, a mobile app, and WordPress-based websites.
d) Support technical design and deployment for online media communications.
e) Provide or support project management as needed.
3) Deployment, Operations, and Support
a) Ensure new or enhanced IT tools and systems are implemented effectively.
b) Organize and coordinate transition from current to Orlando IT platform. Help implement ancillary tech services: broadband, phone system, voicemail, LAN-related office equipment.
c) Ensure training and support of OGA users on new technologies and related processes.
d) Manage document management project including being system administrator overseeing data conversion and cutover.
e) Provide on-site (and remote) first-level troubleshooting plus technical and practical support.
f) Manage current relationship with Vision Computer Solutions and TDS (telecommunications), and Bright House (internet access). Be primary interface related to OGA user hardware, network support and security, and all other related functions.
g) Ensure external vendors meet user needs and achieve OGA IT strategies. Interface with those providing internet/WiFi data access, local area network administration, computer workstations and laptops, cloud-based applications, Tier 2 support, telephone access and systems, paper document storage, and LAN-connected office equipment.
h) Ensure user-dependent data and system security via effective but easy user password standards.
i) Provide technical support for Annual Church Reporting.
j) Plan / track IT budget & expenses plus asset tracking in collaboration with Finance Director.
k) Support General Assembly (annual meeting) IT needs; liaison with host church tech staff.
l) Supervise project or technology assistant(s) as applicable.
1) Education: Bachelor’s degree; major or substantial coursework in information systems and technology is desirable. Graduate degree is helpful to demonstrate advanced learning ability.
a) At least 10 years relevant proven performance
i) Minimum of 3 years in applying current information technologies in office or not-for-profit organization setting can substitute for IT education.
ii) Hands-on background configuring, utilizing, and administering an advanced database, websites, software, local area network, and cloud-based applications.
iii) First-hand exposure to church office and staff functions and environment is desired.
b) Proficient with MS Windows/Office and Apple/Mac OS, server hardware, network administration, and tier one user support.
c) Project management leadership
d) Conversant with current practices/trends of technology in the workplace and ministry.
e) Exposure to BlackBaud applications, Crystal Reports, document management systems, and/or Office365/SharePoint would be very beneficial.
