A beautiful suburban community in New Jersey that is just a 20-minute train ride from New York City, the residents are predominantly unchurched/dechurched. The church's ongoing goal is to reach these people who are used to excellence in every area of their lives and their children's lives but who do not have a relationship with the Lord


This area is filled with couples who are focused on raising families and want the very best for their children’s academic and extracurricular development. They typically commute into Manhattan and occupy jobs in finance, law, and the arts. The people in the community are used to excellence, so the church endeavors to execute all elements of their ministries with the highest level of quality and integrity. Their weekend services, events, seminars, and concerts are designed to be accepting, non-judgmental, and inviting to people of all degrees of faith, while confidently presenting the Biblical truths of the gospel. Their band is comprised of professional and accomplished musicians who work hard in their own musical careers. The children's and student ministries emphasize a high degree of personal interaction and teaching. 


Located in the community's downtown area that is filled with shops and restaurants, the church is in a restored and renovated building that provides a unique and inviting atmosphere with the goal of breaking down and minimizing cultural barriers.  


The successful candidate will possess the unique skills and gifts to reach the high-capacity people of this community with the gospel of Christ. A minimum of a 4-year Degree and preferably a M.Div., as well as at least five years of pastoral experience and experience preaching/teaching on a regular basis, is required. Some experience in the business/corporate would be a plus. He must be confident enough to empower these highly-educated and accomplished people while humbly shepherding them in their relationships with Christ. The culture is uniquely demanding and the congregants expect individual attention, so the church's ministry emphasizes personal relationships. Therefore, the Sr. Pastor will need to thrive on knowing, engaging with, and caring for attenders, the community and its residents.  


This community is a mission field that offers a unique opportunity to continue reaching the church's non-believing friends and neighbors for Christ and to raise up disciples who can effectively share Christ’s love.



  • Primary requirement of the Lead Pastor is to give himself to the ministry of the Word and prayer, seeking to walk uprightly before the Lord in his personal life while seeking the mind of God on behalf of the congregation
  • Serve as the chief communicator and Biblical teacher at the church
  • Teach culturally relevant, Biblically accurate messages which challenge and motivate both non-believers and believers by engaging their minds and hearts through insightful, Biblical teaching
  • Serve as the primary spiritual leader and communicator of the church’s vision to staff, congregation (believers and nonbelievers), and the community at large; ongoing of casting, developing, and implementing vision
  • Plan creatively with Worship Leader and team to effectively coordinate the message and the worship
  • Effectively communicates with the pastoral team, elders, and attenders to further the vision of the church’s ministry Spend time with both non-believers and believers, providing high-touch, personal pastoring, both within the church and in the community
  • Participate in leading or co-leading the strategic planning for the church
  • Promote and advocate responsible scripturally-based stewardship of time, talent, and treasure


  • Four-year Degree from accredited College/University required; M.Div. preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' full-time ministry experience
  • Experience teaching/preaching on a regular basis
  • A strong, demonstrated relationship with Jesus Christ, guided by Biblical principles leading to a joyful, productive life
  • Exhibits leadership that enables the church to understand and live out the vision and mission
  • Approaches responsibilities as the leader while possessing the heart of a shepherd and a servant
  • Adjusts to new situations, actively seeks new ideas, flexible and adaptable and uses sound judgment
  • Must enjoy personal, high-interaction ministry with our people
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative environment, including receiving input and feedback on sermons and services
