Faith Chapel Church in Huntsville, Alabama is looking for a part-time youth pastor responsible for grades 6-12 and college.
The church is an aging group with a new pastor as of July 2014. We are looking to revitalize the church and bring it to a place of strength once again. In it’s hey day, Faith Chapel once had over 400 attendees every Sunday. After several church splits, the
church at one time had far less than 100 people, today we have about 150 attending and 222 active members. In 2015, we received 22 new members and had 26 water baptisms.
We have 46,000 sq. feet of facilities including a gym that needs a youth pastor with vision to bring it to life.
The church is a Spirit-filled and grace-oriented environment operating in cooperation with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church which is very similar to Church of God, Assembly of God, Foursquare and Church of the Open Bible doctrinally; however,
from the churches’ founding, Faith Chapel has been interdenominational in feel and practice and we do not stress the things that divide God’s Church. We concentrate on Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world and our call to simply make disciples of Him. We
encourage candidates to apply from the above listed denominations as well as those from evangelical branches of Baptist, Nazarene, Methodist, etc. Faith Chapel is an inter-racial ministry and encourages applicants from all nationalities and races, currently
we are about 80-90 percent caucasian and possibly 10-20 percent African American with some Spanish. We are located in a predominantly African American neighborhood. Our former youth pastors of four years are an interracial couple, and Faith Chapel was very
loving and accepting of them.
This is a part-time position that will probably require outside work. The salary will be negotiable depending on experience and education, but would probably not be considered more than 35-40% to half time by most people's economic standards. If the church
offers you housing, it would be an old, 3 bedroom house located on the churches' property.
Currently the church has about 16-23 youth on Wednesdays and about 7 or so on Sundays and we need that number to grow.
Huntsville, Alabama is the 2nd largest metro area in Alabama with well over 400,000 people. Because of NASA, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, Redstone Arsenal and many Fortune 500 companies present, Huntsville has more engineers per capita than anywhere
else in the United States. The city has great shopping (including an Apple store), interior and open air modern malls, several super Walmarts and two Super Targets. Huntsvilel also has mountains, four distinct seasons with some snowfall and incredibly vibrant
fall colors and great road infrastructure. Huntsville is home to several public and private colleges and universities to include: University of Alabama in Huntsville and Oakwood College. Huntsville Hospital is a large, regional medical facility. We are in
close proximity to great hiking and camping (Walls of Jericho Trail and Monte Sano) and fishing in Lake Guntersville. With so many great outdoor opportunities, Huntsville supports four outdoor super stores including a brand new Cabella's. We also have several
newer health stores including a brand new Whole Foods Market.
The church is located in what was an up and coming area of the city when planted in the 1960s, today the area we are in has some crime and low income, but we are surrounded by people everywhere as the church sits at the crossroads of two mid-level traveled
